Watchmen’s Jackie Earle Haley who is set to play the new Freddie Krueger in the “Nightmare on Elm Street” remake, confirmed that he has signed on for two more sequels in an interview with bloody-disgusting.com. So that’s three in total.

The first remake is set to hit theaters April 16,2010. The film will also features the “New Moon” and “Twilight” star Kellan Lutz as the character of Dean who will fall victim to a quick death before the opening credits role to get the audience interested. So he won’t be sticking around as much as he does in the “Twilight Saga” films,but at least he gets to be in a classic horror production.

The premise for the “Nightmare on Elm Street” film is that Krueger is burned to death by angry parents for molesting children,but then he returns with a burnt face to terrorize teens in their dreams. This new version is reported to be a lot more scarier than the originals. Not as many jokes, I’ve heard.

Jackie Earle Haley also played Rorschach in the big “Watchmen” movie that premiered earlier this year.

It’s official. Julianne Hough has beaten out top female actresses Miley Cyrus, Hayden Panettiere, and Amanda Bynes to claim the coveted prize of playing Ariel who is Ren McCormack’s (Chase Crawford) love interest in the new “Footloose” remake which is set to begin filming in March of 2010.

According to Variety, the casting will be contingent on scheduling details. Chase Crawford signed on to star as Rem McCormack a short month after Zac Efron stepped down from the role in March of 2009.

They are planning to have a more mature approach in this version of “FootLoose” than in the original one. Dylan Sellers, Kenny Ortega, Craig Zadan who is the producer of the original “Footloose”,and Neil Meron will be producing the film.

According to reports, writer-director Kevin Williamson has been working on a another trilogy that would bring the horror film, “Scream” that graced the big screen back in the latter part of the 90’s, back along with many of the original characters from the movie. It is also reported that Kevin Williamson has approached Courtney Cox Arquette and David Arquette to return and star in the remake.

No one has currently signed any deals as of yet, as right now there would be scheduling conflicts that could get in the way. Courtney Arquette currently has a show called “Cougar Town” that got picked up by ABC. There currently isn’t any information on what other characters would be asked back for the films. One things for sure,though is that Kevin Williamson wants to bring “Scream” back.

I personally thought that the plot was worn out,but who knows,maybe he can do something different with it.

Michelle Morgan has been hired by Twentieth Century Fox and Lakeshore Entertainment to write a new version of the 1985 teen, comedy flick, “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” which starred, Sarah Jessica Parker,Helen Hunt,and Shannen Doherty. They are currently looking to get teen superstar Miley Cyrus to star in the remake.The producers of the film will be Lakeshore’s Gary Lucchesi and Tom Rosenberg.

The Plot of the film centered around two girls who shared a passion for dancing and the hit show, “Dance TV”. It also featured the then hit song by Cindy Lauper, “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”.

Wow, with all these 80’s flash backs coming out, I would like to suggest a “Back To The Future” and “Teen Wolf” remake. I loved those films. Also they can throw in “Weird Science”. Gosh I miss the 80’s. They were truly great.

The extremely funny star of the 2007 hit comedy, “Superbad” movie, Jonah Hill has been given the control by Sony Pictures to remake the classic “21 Jump Street” film. It was originally a tv show back in the 80’s that starred actors, Johnny Depp and Holly Robinson. Jonah is going to be writing and producing the “21 Jump Street” remake. He said that his version is going to take a more comedic tone, but it won’t be strictly comedic. They’re also doing a full on action movie with a lot of blowin sh** up.

My sources say that he was approached by Sony Pictures because they wanted a funny take on “21 Jump Street” so Jonah has decided to make an R-rated,insane ,Bad Boys meets John Hughes type of movie.However, he states that if Sony reniggs on their promise to give him full control of the project, he’ll back out of it ,and not be involved.

I personally just wish he was in the film. Anything he’s in makes me laugh my a** off.

The CW has released another promo for their new ‘Melrose Place’ remake coming this fall.This time it’s a full 3 minutes and 17 seconds of footage. It’s split into three parts. In the first clip we see the son of Michael Mancini , David Breck (Shaun Sipos) checking up on Sydney (Laura Leighton) who has apparently been drinking. She tries to feed him a sob story about how when she first moved there, things were better,and that she wishes he had known her then. She tries to convince him that a past relationship they had was real. Then she throws the blackmail card at him over things he shared with her in the past so she can make romantic advances towards him,and get him to stay.

Next, we see a clip of the new blonde chick, Ella Simms played by Katie Cassidy trying to convince Riley Richmond (Jessica Lucas) that her boyfriend has a chance to turn over his film to a 3 time Oscar winning producer for his daughter’s 18th birthday party. Then it goes on to show other characters of the show which include Violet Foster (Ashlee Simpson-Wentz) reacting to the dead body that was found in the pool.

In the final clip, Michael Mancini shows up,and tells his son David Breck to get in the car while doing something with Ella Simms.

I gotta say, I really like the feel of this new “Melrose Place”. They’ve already got me interested just from the promos.But then of course,that’s what promos are for, right ?

This just in. The original director of the “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” franchise is currently working with Roy Lee and Doug Davision of Vertigo Entertainment to create a remake movie of the popular tv show that graced the WB and UPN tv networks from 1997-2003. Right,now they have not included the popular creator,Joss Whedon in on it yet. They are not ruling out his involvement. They just haven’t included him in on it yet. I hope they do,though. I can’t imagine a “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” movie without Joss as the producer.

Apparently Fran Rubel Kuzui of Kuzui Enterprises held on to the “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” rights since the beginning when she discovered the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” script from the then unknown Joss Whedon in 1992. She developed the script,and her husband Kaz Kuzui put together the financing for the 1992 “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” Movie which starred Luke Perry and Kristy Swanson. They then later teamed up with Gail Berman who was the president of Sandollar television at the time,and brought back Joss Whedon to create the extremely popular Television series.

They are stating that this new “Buffy” movie would have no connection with the tv show version or it’s stars. They want to create a new incarnation of “Buffy”,and not trample over the existing tv series version. They want to hold true to the storyline. That to each generation a slayer is born to protect it. They want to make a more darker ,event sized version with franchise potential.

Right now, they are just in the beginning phase of sitting down with writers and getting takes and ideas. Then, they will later look for a home for the project.

I personally am not to crazy about not using the tv version actors for the movie as they were so very excellent,but I do understand what they are trying to do with this new version. I guess we’ll just have to get used to the new “Buffy” crew they pick out. I knew with the success of the “Twilight Saga” series which is in some ways very similar to the “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” script, that it was just a matter of time that the old “Buffy” folks would try and get in on the bandwagon with their existing fanbase.

The people over at People.com recently sat down with the entire cast of CW’s new ‘Melrose Place’ to interview them all together. The new cast includes : Katie Cassidy,Colin Egglesfield,Stephanie Jacobsen,Jessica Lucas,Michael Rady,Ashlee Simpson-Wentz (I didn’t even know that was her at first),Shaun Sipos,Laura Leighton, and Thomas Calabro.

In the interview Ashlee explains her character Violet Foster,and how she’s new to “Melrose Place” and doesn’t have any friends yet. At first she’s kid of shy,but then as the show unfolds, she gets kind of manipulative. Then the veteran of “Melrose Place”, Laura Leighton chimes in,and states how she feels special that she was asked to come back to be on the new “Melrose Place”.She says that they have a back story for her character and a future one planned for her as well.

After that, Thomas Calabro who played Michael Mancini on the original “Melrose Place”, states that it’s nice to have job again in this recession. Katie Cassidy, the cute new blonde on the show explains how she was to young to watch the original show when it was on back in the early to late 90’s. Colin Egglesfield stated that back in the day, he would have “Melrose Place” viewing parties,and that everyone would always be talking about the episode the next day. Stephanie Jacobsen said that they pretty much all jell together well as cast,and that overall it’s been really great to work with everyone.

The new “Melrose Place” cast does look pretty interesting,and I didn’t even recognize that was Ashlee Simpson when I first saw the cast. She looks so different now with all that long flowing red hair. You can watch the video interview that People.com gave to the cast by Clicking Here.

Chase Crawford better known as Nate Archibald on CW’s hit show “Gossip Girl” has officially landed the lead role of Ren McCormack in the new “Footloose” remake movie. A role that was originally filled by “High School Musical” star Zac Efron. But do to some personal career issues, Zac decided to pull out of the role, midflight. So,now it is Chase Crawford filling his shoes. The movie will be directed and produced by Kenny Ortega who also worked on the “High School Musical” films.

I’m not really sure how good Chase Crawford will be in this role since his “Gossip Girl” character doesn’t really call for any dancing or singing abilities. But I guess if he got picked for the part,he must be able to do it. Any musical abilities he displays in “Footloose” will definitely be a surprise to me. Also rumored to co-star with him is, NBC “Heroes” star Hayden Panettiere. Confirmation of that is pending right now. The movie is currently set to begin filming in March of 2010.

That cute girl, Jessica Szohr who plays Dan’s longtime friend, Vanessa Abrams on the CW’s hit show, “Gossip Girl” is now branching out into movies. She is reported to be cast in the remake of the 1978 horror flick, “Piranha” in 3D. The movie is about a small town being terrorized by a prehistoric man-eating razor-toothed fish.

It will be directed by Alexandre Aja who directed the “Hills Have Eyes” remake. Jessica Szohr will play Kelly who is a cute, young, college girl all caught up in the coed party scene for spring break. Or in other words she’ll probably be fish bait for Mr. “Piranha”. Hey, somebody’s gotta be the bait,right?

Other stars that are slated to be in this movie, is the classic Elizabeth Shue,Ving Rhames,and Adam Scott. “Piranha” will begin shooting later on in May 2009,and the release date will be March 19,2010.
