The popular comic book “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”,and their master Splinter are officially headed back to the theaters for some more box office action. The last time they saw it was way back in 1993 with “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: Turtles In Time”. Heck I was just a teenager then. Also these comic book creatures began way back in 1984 which I was not aware of. They started out as just a comic book series,and then got their own cartoon show back in the late 80′s and early 90′s. And after that of course they came out with the the three feature films.

A word from my sources say that Thomas Dekker who plays John Connor in Fox’s show, “Terminator : The Sarah Connor Chronicles” will be joining Watchmen’s Rorschach in The new “Nightmare on Elm Street” remake. Or he’s more like in talks for joining the film as a jock at the high school in the movie. I’m pretty sure he’ll get the part ,though. It’s not like it’s going to be a Oscar winning role or anything.

Also Jackie Earle Haley who we did a story on before, for this, is going to play Freddie Krueger in the film. He was also Watchmen’s Rorschach, and played Kelly in the old 1970′s “Bad News Bears” films. I used to love those freakin movies. Anyways, I’ve heard this new “Elm Street” film is going to cut out a lot of the joking that Freddy used to do, and just be more of a straight scary type of thing. We’ll see in 2010.

Liam Neeson,Star of this year’s hit movie, “Taken” will be Zues, king of the gods in a remake of the classic “Clash of the Titans” movie. Ralph Fiennes will co- star as his rival, Hades who is the lord of the underworld. The movie is set to start shooting at the end of April, and has a release date of March 26,2010. It will also star : Sam Worthington, Gemma Arterton, Mads Mikkelsen, Alexa Davalos.

Sam Worthington will be playing the lead role of Perseus in the film. The plot will involve Perseus completing different quests and battles in an effort to save Princess Andromeda,and to win the right to marry her and fulfill his destiny. This is Liam Neeson’s first role he’s accepted since the tragic death of his wife, Natasha Richardson. I have a new found respect for Neeson after seeing that “Taken” movie. It totally rocked. I totally look forward to seeing anything else he’s in.

Acouple of Days ago, MGM released the teaser trailer for their new “Fame” remake,and I must say it doesn’t look half bad. It starts off with a girl singing her heart out. Then it breaks into show other cast members dancing to a new ,upgraded 21st century theme song, “I’m Gonna Live Forever”along with scenes from the movie. I really enjoyed listening to the new theme song. It was good and had a nice beat to it. I actually kind of expected a new updated sort of feel to the new 21st century “Fame” remke,but to actually hear that new sound was great.

Recent reports have come out that after the new animated “Wonder Woman” dvd came out, production for a live action “Wonder Woman” movie has been picking up more interest. So much in fact that the WB and Silver Pictures have been looking for new writers and are looking for pitches for a plot. We’ve also heard that the WB and Silver Pictures are now also looking for a director for the film.

You know what they say? If it quacks like a duck. It probably is a duck,and the studios for this “Wonder Woman” film seem to be quacking away quite swiftly as they are trying to get all the elements of this film together and into production. I personally hope they do get this one made because I used to watch the old tv show starring Linda Carter when I was like 4 years old. I’d like to see what all they can do with it now with all the modern technology and all.

Harold Ramis who wrote the first two “Ghostbusters” films recently told MTV that co-writers Bill Murray who played Dr. Peter Venkman and Dan Aykroyd who played Dr. Raymond Stantz in the original two Ghostbusters films, will definitely be making an appearance in the new third installment of the popular 1980′s franchise. Don’t worry though, there will be new young “Ghostbusters” ,but no names have been mentioned as to who will play them. Bill and Dan will be playing mentors to them. which I think will be an interesting plot . Jud Apatow is signed on to be the producer of the film.

There have been rumors circulating that comedians Paul Rudd and Seth Rogen could join the cast,but for now it’s just all speculation as far as they are concerned. This franchise was huge back in the day, and I think a remake could definitely draw huge box office numbers. It went on to spawn off a cartoon of the characters in the mid 1980′s which I watched religiously as an youngin.

According to an interview that Jackie Chan gave to 3news, “The Karate Kid” movie remake he’s been working on with Will Smith’s son, Jaden is going to have it’s named changed to the “Kung Fu Kid” or so they’re contemplating anyways. I’m not sure how much it will effect the ticket sales. I personally don’t care if they change the name, but that’s only because I know it’s a remake of the “Karate Kid”. However, the millions of other people who might not know, may hurt the film’s box office performance.

A name just isn’t a name in Hollywood. It’s hard to build up one, and when you do, you hold onto it. It’s how you’re recognized,and it’s definitely how this movie would be recognized. So I’m not sure that this would be the best decision. Read the rest of this entry »

It’s official according to iconvsicon.com and their sources, filming for the new “Nightmare on Elm Street” remake will begin in April of 2009, and it looks like it will be released on April 16, 2010. Robert Englund will not be returning for the remake so it’s up in the air as to who will be playing Freddy. Of course, it’s not like it really matters. You can’t tell who’s under the mask while watching the film, anyways. In this remake, they are going to stick with the high school setting, and try to delve deeper into the psychology of the nightmares and Freddy Krueger. Read the rest of this entry »

Fame ,the popular 1980 musical movie is making a 2009 return to the big screen. September 25,2009 to be exact. It will star : Debbie Allen, Charles S. Dutton, Kelsey Grammer, Megan Mullally, Bebe Neuwirth, Thomas Dekker, Kristy Flores, Paul Iacono, Paul McGill, Naturi Naughton, Kay Panabaker, Kherington Payne, Collins Pennie, Walter Perez, Anna Maria Perez de Tagle. Similar to the oscar winning original,the movie will track the failures and fortunes of ambitious talented young performers and their teachers as they attend a school year at the prestigious High School for the Performing Arts.
