It has been confirmed that the Lara Croft “Tomb Raider” movie franchise will be revamped.”Tomb Raider” originated as a popular video game that was first introduced back in 1996, and is about a female, daredevil archaeologist named, Lara Croft. Paramount pictures made two movies about it back in 2001 and 2003 which starred Angelina Jolie as the starring role of Lara Croft. She decided after the second installment that she would not accept anymore Lara Croft roles.

Since then, the rights to the Lara Croft character have been reverted to Eidos,but Time Warner has now aquired the rights to it,and are planning to do a total remake of the film. Their plan is to reimagine the origins of her character, love interest, and the main villan. It’s still in it’s very infant stages. Recent rumors that “Transformers” star, Megan Fox might be cast as Lara Croft have been squashed by her spokeperson claiming that she has no involvement in it.

I for one am really glad to hear this because although Megan Fox sort of looks like Angelina Jolie, they are two very different people; and Megan Fox is no Lara Croft in my opinion. I think up and coming action star, and also the original Lara Croft model, Rhona Mitra would be a great fit for the part. She did an excellent job in “Doomsday” ,and reminded me alot of Angelina Jolie while I was watching it. She’s also one badass, sexy chic. She recently starred in “Underworld : return of the Lycans” in which she had some good action scenes as well. Yeah, she’s top billing if you ask me.

Actually, I would almost cast Rhona over Angelina at this point just because I thought that role really made Angelina famous, and I don’t understand why she would turn down any future roles for it. Although, she had did films before “Tomb Raider”, I know I for one had never even heard of Angelina Jolie before the first Lara Croft film. Plus she’s accepted similar roles since then so I don’t see what the big deal is in reprising the Lara Croft role.Anyways, that’s just my two cents.

In “Underworld : Rise of The Lycans”,young Lucian ( Michael Sheen) is a Lycan or werewolf ,and is groomed to serve the Death Dealer or vampire King,Viktor (Bill Nighy) along with all the other Lycans for the rest of his life. He grows into his role quite willingly at first, killing off all the pure blooded Lycans who try to attack the Death Dealers thinking that they are just mindless creatures because they have no human in them. At least that’s the way it seemed,but in secret he’s been planning his escape by making a key that could unlock his collar which the Lycans had to wear so they couldn’t turn into werewolves.

Also,Lucian is secretly in love with the evil Death Dealer king’s daughter, Sonja ( Rhona Mitra ). Lucian saves her life one day from the pure blooded Lycans by escaping the castle walls and removing his collar. The Death Dealer king punishes him heavily for it and plans to kill him.Sonja helps him escape along with his other Lycan friends and eventually betrays her Death Dealer father for the last time by revealing that she’s carrying Lucian’s child. Lucian returns to the castle for a final confrontation with the King and his Death Dealer army. It concludes with an epic battle between the Lycans and the Death Dealers thus bringing about the “Rise of The Lycans”.It also ends with a few unexpected surprises which definitely leave it open for another sequel.

My Take : I thought that the film was entertaining,and had a good story. Although not a very unique story,still interesting enough to want to see how it played out. I loved Rhona Mitra in this role,and she’s definitely easy on the eyes. If Kate Beckinsale ever changes her mind to come back to the franchise,I have a feeling it might not be so easy. I thought they did a good job with the build up,and story telling.The fight scenes were great especially the one with Rhona Mitra. If you like action films with a good story,you should definitely check this one out.

I posted a small article on Rhona Mitra’s part in the new “UnderWorld: Rise of the Lycons” movie about a month or so ago stating that I wasn’t really feeling her in this role yet. Well, I’ve changed my mind. One reason is because I didn’t quite recognize who she was at the time to tell you the truth. It turns out the other night I decided to download a movie I liked that came out earlier this year back in March to be exact. I had almost forgotten about it. The movie is called, “Doomsday” and guess who plays the starring role. Of course, Rhona Mitra. I was like, “Oh I remember her now;I thought she looked familiar”. So,yeah I think she’s an awesome action star. I really liked her performance in “Doomsday”. She’s a badass chick,and she really kicked some butt in that movie. Not that it really matters what my opinion of her is. I just wanted to get on here and share some more information about Rhona Mitra and also give Google some more content juice.

Rhona Mitra in Underworld 3 : Rise of The Lycons

In “Doomsday” Rhona played captain Eden Sinclair in which she led an elite group of specialists into a very dangerous underground city after a virus that was believed to be quarantined for three whole decades resurfaces. They go into the city in hopes of retrieving a cure that they think might be located somewhere in the still quarantined country where the city is located. The unit has to battle a series of life threatening situations in a nightmarish wasteland losing members one by one. Eden Sinclair(Rhona Mitra) eventually retrieves what she needs using some badass skills killing numerous virus ridden attackers and slaying a giant gladiator guy twice her size in cold blood. It was awesome. She’s a pure action chick for sure,and I think she was a great replacement choice for Kate Beckensale.

I’m not really feelin her as much as Kate Beckinsale,but who knows maybe she’ll surprise me.Rhona, is playing,Sonja the secret lover of Lucian,a young Lycon who’s desire is to rise up against the vampire death dealers that have inslaved his people.
