‘So You Think You Can Dance’ September 2, 2019 Eliminated Ezra And Madison (Recap)

Hey, “So You Think You Can Dance” fans. Tonight, September 2,2019, another LIVE performances/results show did indeed air, and another two unlucky dancers got sent packing at the end of it.

The judges: Laurieann Gibson, Dominic “D-Trix” Sandoval, Mary Murphy and Nigel Lythgoe were all on hand to give their critiques. The final 6 dancers were featured tonight. They danced with returning All-Stars from various seasons.

Tonight’s LIVE results show kicked off with the final 6 dancers doing another group routine. It featured them dressed up as zombie’s and doing a spooky dance number from choreographers Pharside & Phoenix.

Right after that, Bailey Munoz and All-Star Koine Iwasaki hit the stage to perform a Broadway routine by choreographer Al Blackstone. Afterwards, Dominic said, “Bailey is an amazing dancer. So, I believed the character and performance.”

Laurieann said, “I would buy a ticket to any show that Bailey is in.” Nigel said, “Bailey is a forty year old with a face lift. He is outstanding.” Mary said, “Bailey is the entertainer of the show.”

Next, Mariah performed her solo number. There was no judge’s comments for the solos. Right after Mariah’s solo, Gino Cosculluela and All-Star Comfort Fedoke performed a Hip-Hop routine by choreographer Luther Brown.

Afterwards, Laurieann said of Gino, “He felt the funk in his trunk.” Nigel said, “Gino was one hundred percent better than the last hip-hop number.” Mary said, “Gino has come out fighting tonight. It was amazing.” Dominic said, “It was brilliant. Gino is a star.”

Next, Madison Jordan and All-Star Lex Ishimoto arrived with a Jazz number by choreographer Mandy Moore. Afterwards, Nigel said of Madison, “Like Gino, you have brilliant technique, but you don’t always let your emotions go. Tonight, you did.”

Mary said, “Madison latched onto the vibe, and I loved the chemistry.” Dominic said, “Madison proves movement is more important than moves, and that was her best routine.” Laurieann said, “The music got away from me a bit, and I want you to let go a little more.” Nigel said the same thing.

After that,Ezra hit the stage to perform a ballroom solo. Next, Sophie Pittman & All-Star Kiki Nyemchek danced a Samba number by choreographer Pasha Kovalev.

Afterwards, Mary said, “We are lucky to have Pasha and Kiki in the house. Sophie looked like a professional dancer. Be careful on the samba rolls, but I thought you did amazing overall.”

Dominic said, “I didn’t like when you sang the lyrics in the dance, but you are blowing up at the right time.” Laurieann said, “It was incredible. Well done.” Nigel said, “You relaxed into it, and it was a lot of fun to see.”

Mariah Russel and All-Star Fik-Shun performed a hip-hop routine by choreographer Misha Gabriel. Afterwards, Dominic said, “Mariah is one of my favorite contemporary turned hip-hop dancers.” Laurieann said, “It was magical. It was super.” Nigel said,”I didn’t feel it tonight. It wasn’t as strong as your previous numbers.” Mary said, “Mariah always brings the magic.”

After that, Bailey hit the stage to perform his solo routine. Next,Ezra Sosa and All-Star Gaby Diaz performed a Contemporary dance by choreographer Robert Roldan.

Afterwards, Laurie told Ezra,”You’re special, and you need to remember that.” Nigel said, “Ezra has freed himself tonight ,and he was honest with himself. It was beautiful.” Mary said, “Ezra bared his soul on the stage.” Dominic said, “You’re inspiring. The piece is like your journey on the show. Get knocked down and come back stronger.”

From there, Sophie Pittman and Gino Cosculluela hit the stage to perform a Broadway number by choreographer Warren Carlyle. Afterwards, Nigel said, “Warren used every inch of the stage. I loved watching these two together. It was special.”

Mary said, “Gino reminds me of Gene Kelley. I want to buy a Broadway ticket with them.” Dominic said, ” I loved your performance, but I question what the kiss was about.” Laurieann said, “You’re the couple to beat.”

Next, Madison performed her solo number. Right after that, Bailey Munoz and Mariah Russell did a Jazz dance by choreographer Ray Leeper. Afterwards, Mary said, “I want to know what has gotten into Bailey. You set the stage on fire. You’re still the couple to beat.”

Dominic said, “Bailey you’re like Magic Mike. I’m blown away.” Laurieann said, “I stand corrected” when it comes to declaring Gino and Sophie the couple to beat. Nigel said, “You’re the most sensational couple. You really are the couple to beat.”

Next, Sophie served up her solo performance. Right after that, Ezra Sosa & Madison Jordan rocked out a Disco dance by choreographer Doriana Sanchez.

Afterwards, Dominic said, “When I did it, it was so difficult. I give you praise for the lifts and how fast they were.” Laurieann said, “This is the best dance show. Madison, you should let go. Ezra, you did an amazing job.” Nigel said, “I saw the sparkle in the routine.” Mary said, “It gave everyone disco fever.”

From there, Gino performed a solo dance. Next, Madison Jordan, Mariah Russell, and Sophie Pittman performed a group routine by choreographer Ray Leeper. They danced to a remix of “I Can’t Stand The Rain.”

Afterwards, Laurieann said, “The three of them literally killed it.” Nigel said, “I hope each one of them feels they have learned something from the show. All three are brilliant.” Mary said, “You are all deserving and amazing emerging artists.” Dominic said, “Ladies, it has been an honor watching you, and you have always been standouts.”

Next, the guys: Gino Cosculluela, Ezra Sosa, and Bailey Munoz served up a group performance by choreographer Talia Favia. Afterwards, Nigel said, “I’m so happy Talia choreographed that routine because it all came together beautifully. Gino was the standout. I’m shocked at how brilliantly it was performed.”

Mary said, “The dance was one with the universe. It was wonderful.” Dominic said, “All three were in the moment giving their best.” Laurieann said, “The power of dance is to speak without opening your mouth. All three have the ability to see their dreams manifest.”

At this point, they revealed that Gino and Mariah have made it into the finals! Then Nigel said, “We’re going strictly based on who landed at the bottom of the votes.” That meant Bailey and Sophie also made it into the finals, leaving poor Ezra Sosa and Madison Jordan eliminated tonight.
