Dancing With The Stars November 9, 2020 Eliminated AJ McLean & Cheryl Burke (Recap)

Hey, “Dancing With The Stars” fans. Tonight, November 9, 2020, another new Dancing With The Stars, LIVE performance/results show did indeed air with judges: Derek Hough, Carrie Anne Inaba and Bruno Tonioli on hand to deliver their critiques and scores once again.

Tonight’s theme was Icons night. The celebs paid tribute to various musical icons with their performances.

Justina Machado and Sasha Farber kicked off the performances with a Rumba routine. Their Icon theme was Madonna.

Afterwards, Derek said, “It was a beautiful rumba with great turns and oozy slow moments, but I wanted it to be sharper.”

Bruno said, “It was the gentle side of Madonna, and you did everything right, but you held back a little too much.” Carrie Ann said, “You danced a little too small.”

Carrie Ann gave Justina & Sasha a 8 score, Derek a 8, Bruno a 8 for a total of 24 points out of a possible 30 points.

Nelly and Daniella Karagach it the stage next to deliver a Jive routine to a 2Pac song titled, “California Love.”

Afterwards, Bruno said, “Your style makes me smile, and you have an ease. You were in your element, but you missed a couple of steps.”

Carrie Ann said, “Great job. It was fun because you were entertaining us. However, you did miss a few steps. Derek said, “I felt the joy and fun of the routine, but there were a few mistakes.

Carrie Ann gave Nelly & Daniella a 8 score, Derek a 8, Bruno a 8 for a total of 24 points.

Next up, was AJ McLean and Cheryl Burke with a Viennese Waltz number. Freddie Mercury was their theme.

Afterwards, Carrie Ann said, “That was a tough one, but then you seemed to lose your turns and choreography. You need to pay attention to your fingers on your extensions.”

Derek said, “It was beautiful in frame despite your mistakes, and you need to be aware of your face a little bit. Strong body, but relaxed face.”

Bruno said, “You were so pumped up that you got yourself into a bit of a jumble, and you need to soften your arms.”

Carrie Ann gave AJ & Cheryl a 7 score, Derek a 8, Bruno a 8 for a total of 23 points.

Kaitlyn Bristowe and Artem Chigvintsev danced a Argentine Tango dance. Their theme was Britney Spears. They performed to her “Toxic” song.

Afterwards, Derek said, “You lacked impact in the past, but you nailed that tonight.” Bruno said, “Hit me, Kaitlyn, one more time! Your performance had luscious shapes and lines that stretched to infinity. It was a star performance.”

Carrie Ann said, “Every line and lift was perfect.”

Carrie Ann gave Kaitlyn & Artem a perfect 10 score, Derek a 10, Bruno a 10 for a perfect total score of 30 points! Needless to say, Kaitlyn was very happy about that.

Next to hit the stage was Johnny Weir and Britt Stewart. They did a Quickstep number. Amy Winehouse was their theme.

Afterwards, Bruno said, “Amy would have loved that. The quickstep was excellent.” Carrie Ann said, “We’ve never seen a quickstep like that. You pulled it off beautifully with lots of precision. You were light on your feet. Derek said, “You being you equals love, and your technique and footwork were clean.”

Carrie Ann gave Johnny & Britt a perfect 10 score, Derek a 10, Bruno a 10 for another perfect, total score of 30 points!

Skai Jackson and Alan Bersten hit the dance floor ,next, to rock out a Paso Doble routine. Janet Jackson was their theme.

Afterwards, Carrie Ann said, “I’m proud of your fierce paso doble. You channeled a new fierceness just like Janet Jackson did when she released that album.”

Derek said, “It was powerful and confident, but you need to watch your arms. They were a little too tense.” Bruno said, “It was one of your most grown-up dances, and you did a fantastic job.

Carrie Ann gave Skai & Alan a 9 score, Derek a 9, Bruno a 9 for a total of 27 points.

Nev Schulman and Jenna Johnson knocked out a Jive routine. Their theme was Elton John.

Afterwards, Derek said, ” I love how much content and charisma it had, but it needed more pump in the jive action.”

Bruno said, “I loved the structure and characterization of the dance, but you needed better retraction on the flicks and kicks.” Carrie Ann said, “You’re a pleasure to watch, but you need to point your toes a little more.”

Carrie Ann gave Nev & Jenna a 9 score, Derek a 9, Bruno a 9 for a total of 27 points.

After that, they did Dance-Off segments. The first dance-off featured: Justina Machado vs. Kaitlyn Bristowe in the Cha Cha.

Afterwards, Derek said, “It’s important to stand out when you’re side by side, and one couple definitely did.”

Bruno said, “I felt passion from one dance, and precision from the other.” Carrie Ann said, “It was sugar vs. spice, but everything was nice. Justina got my attention first, but Kaitlyn drew me in during the second half.”

Carrie Ann voted for Kaitlyn to win that round, Derek for Justina, Bruno for Justina. So, Justina got the bonus points, which was 2 extra points added to their overall score for tonight.

The second dance-off featured: Skai Jackson vs. Nelly . They did a Salsa routine. Afterwards, Bruno said, ” I was distracted by Nelly’s pecs, and Skai kept up with the dance. She had great dismounts from his lifts.”

Carrie Ann said, “One of you had trouble coming down from the lifts.” Derek said, “Both teams were on fire, and it could go either way.”

Carrie Ann voted for Skai to win this round, Derek for Nelly, Bruno for Skai. So, Skai got two extra bonus points.

Dance-Off number 3 featured: Johnny Weir vs. AJ McLean. They rocked out a Jive number. Afterwards, Carrie Ann said, “This was the hardest of the dance-offs. I loved Johnny’s technique, and AJ had great stamina.”

Derek said, “The first half went to Johnny, but the second half went to AJ.” Bruno said, “One of the routines was sharper and more compact, but the other one had great musicality and precision.

Carrie Ann voted for Johnny to win that round, Derek for AJ, Bruno for AJ. So, AJ got a bonus two points.

After all of that, they finally revealed that everyone was safe ,tonight, except for Johnny Weir & Britt Stewart and AJ McLean & Cheryl Burke. They were the bottom 2 vote getters.

The judges were, once again, able to save one of the couples. Bruno voted to save Johnny & Britt. Derek voted to save AJ McLean & Cheryl. Carrie Ann voted to save Johnny & Britt.
