Cruel Summer Season 2 July 31, 2023 Episode 10 Is The Finale. Season 3 Not Yet Confirmed
Hey, “Cruel Summer” fans. We hope you guys totally enjoyed watching episode 10 tonight, especially since it was indeed the very last episode of Cruel Summer’s current season 2 and possibly forever. Yes, unfortunately, we don’t currently have any official confirmation from Freeform about whether or not they plan to renew Cruel Summer for a new season 3. So, in fact, tonight’s episode 10 might have been the very last episode of Cruel Summer that you’ll ever see again.
Of course, we hope that isn’t the case. Since we don’t yet have an official announcement from Freeform about Cruel Summer’s future, we’re going to take a look at the LIVE viewership numbers and ratings that season 2 delivered for Freeform to try and get some sort of educated guess as to what decision Freeform might make.
According to the LIVE Nielsen ratings, Cruel Summer season 2 averaged 126,000 LIVE viewers per episode, and a 0.04 ratings score for the 18-49 year old demographics. That’s a 52.81 percent decrease in what season 1 did in the viewership numbers, and a 61.62 percent decrease for the ratings compared to season 1.
I personally blame the super long, 2 years that Freeform took to get this show back on the air with a new season. Anyways, the most recent episode 9, which aired last Monday night, July 24, 2023, managed to draw in 165,000 LIVE viewers, and a 0.06 ratings score.
The most-viewed episode was the premiere episode 1 with 223,000 LIVE viewers. The least-viewed episode was episode 4 with 73,000 LIVE viewers. The highest-rated episode was the premiere episode 1 with a 0.08 ratings score. The lowest-rated episodes were episodes 4 and 7. They both tied for last place with a 0.02 ratings score.
Those numbers do seem awfully low even for a cable channel like Freeform. Also, the show lost 50 percent of its audience from season 1. Taking into consideration those two things, I wouldn’t be surprised if Freeform decided to cancel Cruel Summer unless it’s got some streaming numbers that just blows everything out of the water. And that might very well be the case because we have no data for the streaming numbers.
If I were you guys, I would definitely brace myself for a possible cancellation of Cruel Summer. We’re not surprised that Freeform hasn’t made a season 3 decision yet based on those LIVE Nielsen ratings numbers.
