Hey, “60 Minutes” fans. We have some very terrific news for you in this article because after weeks and weeks of delays, the people over at CBS are going to finally deliver the next, new episode 19 of this current season 57 of 60 Minutes tonight, February 2, 2025, and we’ve got some new preview intel for it.
We were able to get a hold of an official press release for this new episode 19 straight from the CBS people. So, we will certainly reference it in this preview session. Let’s get to it.
In tonight’s new episode 19, the 60 Minutes team is going to serve up 3, new segments. The first segment is titled, “WHAT WILL MITCH DO?” CBS’ official description for it reads like this, “Now that President Donald Trump has retaken the White House and is shaking up Washington with an onslaught of executive orders and controversial nominees for his Cabinet, correspondent Lesley Stahl profiles the longest-serving Senate party leader, Mitch McConnell, on his life, legacy and what he will do next since stepping down from Senate leadership.
Stahl meets McConnell in his office and interviews him, as well as his biographer, Michael Tackett, about the Senator’s upbringing and impact on American life, his contentious relationship with Mr. Trump and how he plans to stand up for what he believes is right. Richard Bonin is the producer.”
The second segment is titled, “ROBERT LIGHTHIZER.” CBS’ description for it reads like this, “Tariffs were a signature of President Trump’s campaign and are now part of his economic agenda promising to protect American trade and recover manufacturing jobs.
Correspondent Scott Pelley interviews Robert Lighthizer, the top trade negotiator during Trump’s first term who continues to be an informal advisor and confidant of the president. Lighthizer is a strong advocate for tariffs, believing they will not only usher in a manufacturing renaissance but that they will protect critical U.S. national security interests.
Economists are skeptical about Trump’s tariff proposals, arguing they will lead to higher costs for companies and consumers. Maria Gavrilovic is the producer.”
The 3rd and final segment for tonight’s new episode 19 is titled, “A PSYCHEDELIC JOURNEY.” CBS’ description for it reads like this, “Last year, the Veterans Administration announced it would begin funding clinical trials to explore the use of psychedelic drugs for treating post-traumatic stress disorder, depression and addiction.
However, these trials are small, and even if successful, it will likely be years before veterans can access psychedelics at the VA. Many U.S. veterans struggling with PTSD aren’t waiting. Thousands of veterans are traveling overseas seeking relief at psychedelic retreats where these substances are legal to use, mostly in indigenous ceremonies.
Correspondent Anderson Cooper follows nine veterans on a psychedelic journey to the west coast of Mexico, where they hope to find healing. Katie Brennan is the producer.”
Again, CBS’ press release confirmed that the next, new episode 19 of 60 Minutes’ current season 57 is indeed scheduled to finally hit the air tonight, February 2, 2025 in the 6 pm central standard time slot. It will also be available for streaming on Paramount+.
