Watson New Season 3 Not Happening. CBS Canceled It
CBS aired the finale episode 20 of Watson’s current season 2 tonight. According to a recent report from Deadline.com , that episode will be the last one forever because CBS chose not to renew Watson for a brand new season 3.
The cancellation news broke back in March 2026. Apparently, they thought some other new shows they were pitched will do better in Watson’s current Sunday night time slot. So, it got the ax.
The president of CBS Entertainment Amy Reisenbach talked about why they canceled Watson stating, “In terms of DMV and Watson, we love both those shows. They were a joy to work on. Morris Chestnut is maybe one of the greatest No. 1’s I’ve ever dealt with. But, you know, it’s a high bar on CBS.
We aggregate all the numbers, and we have to make those tough decisions in order to make room for new shows.”
Watson’s main star Morris Chestnut made an official announcement about the cancellation on his official Instagram account saying, “As many of you know, Watson will not be returning for a third season. After two incredible seasons, I’m so grateful for the experience. It wouldn’t have been the same without the amazing cast and crew. Thank you for making it so special.
To all the fans who showed love and supported Watson, thank you so much. Thank you to CBS for the incredible partnership.”
