Alien Earth New Season 2 Is Happening. FX Renewed It Yet
According to a couple of our sources, the people over at FX have not yet served up an official renewal order for their new, hit sci-fi/action series Alien: Earth. That means tonight’s season 1 finale episode 8 might be the last episode forever. Update: FX did renew the show for a new season 2
On a much brighter note, we are hearing that it’s highly likely that FX will renew the show for a new season 2 at some point. Also, according to JustJared.com, the series creator Noah Hawley recently told Variety.com, “Season 1 is the proof of concept, and if it works commercially, then Season 2 is about building a model upon which we can envision making a Season 3, 4, 5.”
So, there could certainly be many more seasons to come if FX does eventually greenlight Alien: Earth to continue. Noah went on to tell them, “Alien: Earth is designed to be a recurring series. I don’t know how many seasons that would be. I believe that endings are what give a story meaning. So, I have a sense of where I’m going with it.”
Also, sources tell me that an FX executive named Gina Balian spoke positively about the show’s future stating, “There are a lot of places that could stand in for where the show could go next.”
Noah also told Variety that he already knows where he wants to go with a possible new season 2. He also has plans to streamline everything so it doesn’t take too long to get the new seasons released.
He said, “I think that I have a destination in mind story-wise, which allows me to know what the story is I’m telling, what it means. And I don’t know how long it takes to get there, but I do have a sense of where we go in success. And you know, the question becomes: how streamlined can we make the process so that you’re not waiting for three, or four, or five years for more?”
According to Ustvdb.com, Alien: Earth season 1 averaged between 385,000 and 589,000 viewers per episode, which is pretty good for a cable show.
