New 20/20 September 25 Episode To Feature A Strangling Murder Scandal In Salem
According to ABC, they are officially scheduled to serve up the very first, premiere episode 1 of 20/20’s new season 49 tonight, September 25, 2026, and it will feature a look at a scandal that involved a strangling murder of a college student over in Salem, MA.
According to ABC’s official press release info for this episode, the producers decided to label/title it, “The Salem Stranger.”
The preview intel from ABC’s episode description is telling us that the 20/20 team will take a deep look at a story about a Salem Massachusetts, college student woman named Claire Gravel. She was found strangled to death just six miles from her apartment.
The investigators who worked this case were able to find new evidence, but apparently not enough because the case went cold for years. However, a similar attack that happened in 2007 eventually helped the investigators finally crack Claire Gravel’s murder case.
Co-anchor Deborah Roberts handled the reporting duties for this episode and case. It will feature interviews with Gravel’s family, the victim who survived the 2007 attack, and law enforcement officials who helped solve the murder.
Again, ABC’s press release confirmed that they are officially scheduled to air this new, premiere episode of 20/20’s new season 49 tonight, September 25, 2026 in the 8 pm central standard time slot. It will be a 2-hour event. So, expect it to conclude at 10 pm central time.
