New 9-1-1 Lone Star Season 6 Is Not Happening. FOX Canceled It

Hey, “9-1-1: Lone Star” fans. We hope you guys totally enjoyed tonight’s episode 12, especially since it was indeed the finale episode of not only this current season 5, but also the entire series itself.

Yep, unfortunately, it has been officially confirmed that this current season 5 was indeed the very last season of 9-1-1: Lone Star. According to the folks over at Deadline.com, this cancellation was announced back in September of 2024.

During the cancellation announcement, the FOX TV Network President Michael Thorn had some nice things to say about the show and its staff stating, ““From the start, fans have followed the heroic and deeply moving stories of the men and women who make up Austin’s 126, so a huge thanks to one of the greatest creative teams in all of television Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear for creating one of the most action-packed dramas anywhere.

Now in our final season of the show, we’re set to give it the high-stakes send-off it deserves, complete with breathless rescues, insurmountable odds and relatable personal struggles, thanks to our incomparable, stellar cast led by Rob Lowe and Gina Torres.”

Deadline explained that FOX doesn’t actually own the license to 9-1-1: Lone Star. So, they were having to play a licensing fee to Disney’s 20th TV, and it was getting a little too expensive to produce. It was costing FOX about 3 to 4 million dollars per episode, and that’s before paying the license fee.

They didn’t mention how much the license fee is, but we’re pretty sure it was quite expensive as they mentioned it as one of the factors causing the financial deficit.

9-1-1: Lone Star season 5 averaged 2.766 million LIVE viewers per episode, and a 0.25 ratings score for the 18-49 year old demographics according to the LIVE Nielsen ratings.
