The Neighborhood New Season 9 Is Not Happening. CBS Canceled It

Tonight, May 11, 2026, CBS aired the 20th episode of The Neighborhood’s current season 8, and it was the finale episode for this season. Unfortunately, we have to report that it was also the finale episode for the series as a whole.

According to a report from Deadline.com , back in March of 2025, CBS decided to renew The Neighborhood for season 8 with it being the final season.

They’re reporting that CBS decided to cancel it due to rising cost of production for that particular show. The longer these shows run, the more expensive they get. This one also had some big name actors attached to it, making the cost even more expensive.

The President of CBS Entertainment Amy Reisenbach had some great things to say about the show and its staff during the final season 8 announcement stating, “The brilliant cast and creative team at The Neighborhood led by the incomparable Cedric the Entertainer have brought levity, laughter and poignant storylines to Monday nights for seven incredible seasons.

A strong ratings performer for CBS and one of the top comedies on TV, we believe the show’s loyal fans deserve a proper farewell season full of the trademark humor and heartfelt moments that are synonymous with the series.”

According to the LIVE Nielsen ratings, The Neighborhood season 8 averaged 3.780 million LIVE viewers per episode, and a 0.33 ratings score for the 18-49 year old demographics.
