Outlander New Season 9 Is Not Happening. The Series Ended
Tonight, May 15, 2026, STARZ aired the 10th episode of Outlander’s current season 8, and it was indeed the very last episode both for the season and the series as a whole. According to our sources over at TheFutonCritic.com , this current season was indeed the last one.
We’re being told that the series was not actually canceled by STARZ, but that it was a planned conclusion for the series. The series ending news dropped way back in January of 2023.
During the announcement, STARZ’s president of original programming Kathryn Busby had wonderful things to say about the show stating, “For nearly a decade, ‘Outlander’ has won the hearts of audiences worldwide, and we’re pleased to bring Claire and Jamie’s epic love story to a proper conclusion.”
On a positive note, The Outlander world isn’t ending entirely with this series. It’s spinoff show, “Outlander: Blood of My Blood” has been renewed for a brand new season 2. The renewal order was ordered back on June 23, 2025. We’re still waiting for a premiere date for it from STARZ.
Again, the original Outlander series did end with tonight’s season 8, finale episode 10. There will be no new season 9. However, the spinoff series, “Outlander: Blood Of My Blood” does live on.
