House Of The Dragon New Season 4 Is Happening. HBO Renewed It
Tonight, August 9, 2026, HBO is set to air the next, new episode 8 of House Of The Dragon’s current season 3, and it will be the season 3 finale episode. So, we did look to see if HBO has renewed it for a new season 4 to keep the story going.
According to the people over at Variety and a couple of other sources, HBO did indeed renew it for a new season 4. The renewal announcement actually happened quite early, back in November 2025.
We’re being told that the new season 4 is expected to finally show up sometime in the year 2028. No exact premiere date has been given yet. HBO’s CEO Casey Bloys delivered the season 4 renewal announcement. During that time, he also confirmed that a new season 2 for the Game Of Thrones prequel series titled, “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” is officially set to arrive sometime in 2027.
Francesca Orsi who is the EVP of HBO programming made a very positive statement during the renewal announcement. She said that she’s thrilled to be able to deliver the new seasons for both of those shows.
Currently, there are no details on the episode count for the new seasons of these shows. However, we’re guessing it’ll probably be around the same as their previous seasons. That’s usually how it works out with these HBO shows.
Again, it’s officially confirmed that HBO has renewed House Of The Dragon for a new season 4, and it’s scheduled to arrive sometime in 2028.
