The Shards New Season 2 Still In Question. FX Hasn’t Renewed It Yet
Today, September 9, 2026, Hulu/FX aired the 9th episode of The Shards’ current, premiere season 1, and it was indeed the season finale episode. So, we went looking to see if FX/Hulu renewed the show for a new season 2 yet. A couple of sources are telling us that FX has not renewed it yet. So, the future of the show is still currently being decided.
The show’s executive producer Ryan Murphy did recently tell the folks over at Variety that he does have at least a three season plan for the Shards if it gets renewed. He told them that he always thought it could be a three-year dramatic series if not longer.
Currently, there’s not many details floating out there for what a new season 2 might bring because no official renewal order has been made. We’re hearing that fans are hoping that Igby Rigney, Kaia Gerber, Homer Gere, Hayes Warner, Graham Campbell, Evan Rachel Wood, Wes Bentley, Owen Painter, Jordan Roth, and Ivy Wolk will reprise their roles if a new season 2 gets greenlit.
That’s about all that’s out there right now. We’ll have to give you more updates about it at some point in the future when FX/Hulu finally reveal their renewal decision for this show.
Again, we’re being told by multiple sources, including Variety that FX/Hulu has yet to renew The Shards for a brand new season 2 at the moment. So, we will have to play the waiting game for this one.
