Big Brother Rick Devens Won Season 28 In Finale Episode (Recap)
Earlier tonight, October 1, 2026, CBS aired the new, finale episode for Big Brother’s current season 28, and we finally found out who won this thing by the time it wrapped.
Tonight’s new episode kicked off with footage of the first round of the final 3-part HOH (Head Of Household) competition. It was an endurance comp, and Taylor won it to go straight through to the 3rd round.
Drew told the private cams, “I want to try and cut Devens and take Taylor to the final two. That would be a big move for my resume.” Devens told the private cams, “I want to take Drew to the final two. I have to beat Drew in part two because I’m not sure if Drew or Taylor will take me to the final two.”
Next, they showed the footage of the second round of the final HOH comp featuring Drew vs Devens. It was a target-shooting comp where they had to shoot down cardboard statues of houseguests who were the answer to a question they were given. It was a best 3 out 5 rounds event. Devens won it in 4 rounds to face off against Taylor in the 3rd and final round of the last HOH competition.
Season 26 winner Chelsie Baham joined the jury members to host the jury roundtable event. Dee arrived to join them. They said they need Taylor to explain why she survived being on the block so many times and the moves she made.
They said they needed to know what decisions Drew made without the icons. Dee did say Drew worked 24 hours to play the game. Dee pumped up the game moves Devens made in the game, particularly the one he used to get Kamu out with the diamond power of veto. The others argued that Devens was given a lot of advantages for being an icon.
After all of that, Devens and Taylor competed LIVE in the 3rd round of the final HOH competition. It was titled,”Back In My Day.” It was a quiz competition that tested how well they new certain events that took place with certain houseguests this season.
Devens won it 5-3 to claim the final HOH victory. So, he got to pick who went with him to the final two. Taylor and Drew gave their final plea speeches to Devens. Then, Devens told Drew, “I can’t beat you in a final two. So, I have to evict you.”
Drew said, “It’s the right move. It just hurts, man.” It was noted that Taylor actually pitched to Devens the reasons why he would lose to Drew in the final two last night, and that played a big part in Devens’ decision to cut Drew.
Drew gave his exit interview with host Julie Chen-Moonves. Drew told Julie, “I think Devens made the right move, and I think he’s going to win this whole thing. It’s the easier move. Getting rid of me was the right move, but it still hurts because he would’ve still beaten me. I made it to finale night. Just sorry I couldn’t bring it home. It’s been so fun. I got to live my dream. Not a lot of people can say that.
After that, they introduced the jury LIVE in studio. Melody, Dee, La Trice, Angela, Barrett and Yash. Then, Drew joined them. They questioned the final two.
Devens told them,”I understand that I did get special privileges, but I used them to my advantage, and there were targets on us all the time. We formed strong alliances that protected us. I’m still here because of the relationships I created, not because I was an icon.
I collaborated with Drew. I did not drag him along. We orchestrated the Lyric vote. We also formed other alliances. I formed a great relationship with Yash and Kamu, but I had to pivot to help my main alliance by getting Kamu out with the diamond power of veto. Last night, I made the decision to get rid of Drew due to Taylor telling me I wouldn’t have certain votes against Drew.
I wanted all the smoke. I took big swings. I attacked this game and put together alliances. My hands are covered in blood by getting people out that I cared about. I think I would be a great representative of this season. The first time I was even eligible to be evicted was in the final 4.
Taylor told them, “My biggest challenge was constantly being on the block, but I prevailed and stayed resilient. I was able to persevere through everything. I diligently orchestrated some important evictions that crumbled some important alliances. I should win this game because I didn’t have all the privileges. I had to put in real work to get here.
Being humble and respectful was what I wanted to show. I prevailed through it all. I used faith and perseverance to get here. I wasn’t silent. I was just subtle. I was constantly prepping my next move to get through this game. Drew, Devens just betrayed you, man. Give me that vote.”
After all of that, the jury cast their votes for who they thought should win Big Brother season 28. Then, they brought on the prejury castmembers: Mallory, Jason, Lyric, Rome, Ashley, Haley, Kamu, and Chuk. Jason was dressed up in drag as his alter ego Selina. Rome said that he and Lyric are madly in love and working on moving in together. Mallory admitted to everyone that she’s actually rocket scientist.
To wrap things up, Julie finally revealed the jury votes for the winner. La Trice voted for Taylor. Angela, Barrett, Yash, Melody, Dee, and Drew all voted for Devens. So, by a landslide vote of 6-1, Devens won Big Brother season 28 tonight, and a nice $750,000 dollar check. Taylor won 75,000 dollars as the runner up.
Julie revealed that the top vote-getters for America’s Favorite houseguest were: Drew, Devens and Yash, and Devens won that too to claim an extra $50,000 dollars! Julie also revealed that Big Brother has been renewed for seasons 29 and 30. So, that is very good news for the future of the show.
