MasterChef September 9 Eliminated No One (Recap)
Earlier tonight, September 9, 2026, FOX aired another new episode of MasterChef’s current season 16 with judges: Gordon Ramsay, Joe Bastianich and Tiffany Derry.
Tonight’s episode was part 1 of a 2-part finale episode. It started off by introducing the final three contestants of this season: Jake, Peter and Heidi to a LIVE studio audience that also featured their family members. After all the introductions were out of the way, they went right into the final, three-course meal challenge, starting with the appetizers.
During the appetizer round, they were given 60 minutes to complete their dish. Jake told Gordon he was making an octopus taco dish. Heidi told Tiffany she was making a black cod dish. Meanwhile, Peter told Joe he was making a steamed red snapper dish. Jake told the private cams that he felt like he got a little sloppy with his garnishes.
At the end of the round, Peter presented his steamed red snapper dish to the judges. Gordon said, “It looks refined.” Tiffany said, “The fish is really nicely cooked. The dumpling was nice. I loved the crispy skin on the fish.” Joe said, “Good job.” Gordon said, “The fish is cooked beautifully. I love the effort you put in.”
Heidi presented her chili-marinated black cod dish. Gordon said, “The fish is cooked beautifully. The black cod got lost though. It needed more cream sauce.” Joe said, “It’s just a well dressed salad.”
Jake presented a ruby prawn and octopus taco dish. Gordon said, “It’s absolutely delicious. So much work went into this. It’s good.” Tiffany said, “The tortilla got a little dry, but the char on the octopus was perfect. It tasted great.” Joe said, “That is a refined cooking technique. You did good.”
Next up was the entree round. Jake said he was making a pan-roasted duck breast dish. Heidi said she was making a venison tenderloin dish. Peter said he was making a beef fillet dish. They were given 60 minutes to do it.
During the challenge, Tiffany gave Jake advice about the duck he’s making and some other things. She was once again concerned about him trying making too many things. He said, “I gotta take risks to win this.”
Heidi told Joe more about her dish. He wished her good luck. Peter told Gordon more about his dish. Gordon told him to keep a close eye on those fillets. At one point, Peter was seen, running into issues with his steaks being undercooked in the time he thought they would be cooked. So, he put them back in the oven to try to get those things cooked.
At this point, tonight’s episode wrapped up because they’re reserving the second and final part for next week’s new, finale episode.
