Survivor September 23 Voted Off Aaliyah Puglia In Premiere Episode (Recap)
Earlier tonight, September 23, 2026, CBS aired the very first premiere episode of Survivor’s current season 51, and the first, unlucky contestant did get sent packing at the end of it.
Tonight’s new episode kicked off with new cast seen, arriving on a boat with host Jeff Probst. Jeff told them they would have permanent uncertainty this season. Then, they were given just two minutes to get as many supplies and their rafts off the boat as possible. From there, they used to rafts to make it to shore.
Kristin told the private cams that she connected with Sharonda really fast. They said they had each other’s backs. Eric told the private cams that he was feeling good about Rob since they’re both from Rhode Island.
After making it to shore, they all got a note from production, telling them that one person has to go on a mysterious journey to the other side of the island. Lewis volunteered to go when no one else would. So, Lewis went on the trip, which turned out to be a trip to exile island.
Kelly told the private cams that she likes Ori’s vibe. So, they connected pretty well. Ori, Jelly, Devin and Aaliyah were seen, talking about forming an alliance.
Next, everyone got a note that told them to pick their buffs, which revealed what tribes they will be on. It was revealed that there are two tribes: Toka and Savu. The tribes had to pick one person to represent them in negotiations for for supplies.
Kristin and Danny Kilby were chosen to be reps. Kilby got building and shelter supplies for the Toka tribe. Kristin got a pot, a machete, flint and fishing supplies for Savu.
Jelly told the private cams that she, Devin and Aaliyah are already locked in together. Shoranda told the private cams that she connected with Ori and Kristin. Meanwhile, Rob told the private cams that he wanted Eric out because there can only be one guy there from Rhode Island.
Over at exile island, Lewis told the private cams that he definitely didn’t like it at all. Then, Jeff finally showed up after about 30 hours of him being out there to tell him that he’s automatically safe from the first tribal council meeting.
Jeff also gave him an opportunity to win an immunity idol. Jeff showed him that it was on top of a thick tree branch that he had to chop down with a small ax in a certain period of time to get it. Unfortunately for Lewis, he was unable to chop it down in the amount of time given. So, he did not get the idol.
Devin told the private cams that he likes Brady’s vibe. So, they connected a bit. Devin also told the private cams that he thinks Jenna is lying about being a photographer and that she’s suspicious. He suggested targeting her by saying, “We’re coming for you, Jenna.”
Rob tried to make everyone suspicious of Eric by saying Eric was searching for an idol when he was really just out fishing.
Rob, Anna and Carter formed an alliance, and their goal was to target Eric. Alexis told the private cams, “Eric has got to go.” Meanwhile, Rob was the one who actually went looking for an immunity idol, and he did find it.
Jeff showed up with the very first immunity challenge of this season. Before it started, he told them everything that’s happened in the past 25 seasons could happen in this season as part of an open era twist, providing constant uncertainty.
During the immunity challenge, they had to make it through obstacles, move heavy blocks to build a stare case to climb and complete a puzzle for the win. The Savu tribe won it to claim immunity. So, Toka had to figure out which one to vote off at the tribal council meeting. Jenna’s name was already being mentioned as an easy target.
Maggie mentioned Jenna and Aaliyah’s name as targets to Mike. He seemed to agree with that. Jelly told the private cams that she wants a man to go home because they didn’t pull their weight in the immunity challenge. Patt told the private cams that she didn’t want Jenna to go. So, she told Jenna about her name being floated around.
Jenna told the private cams that she seems closed off because she just recently got divorced and was feeling down about that, but she said she was going to get to work with the campaigning. Brady’s name was also mentioned as a possible target. So, some campaigning started on his behalf as well.
At the Toka tribal council meeting, Devin said out loud that he’s voting Jenna out because he thinks she will make it to the end of this game if they don’t get her out now. Jenna said,”Well, I’m not just going to give Devin permission to vote me out. I hope we can work it out somehow.”
After that, a lot of Whispering back and forth started to take place. Usually, that kind of thing doesn’t happen until much later in a season.
Eventually, they did cast their votes. However, before the votes were read, both Jenna and Aaliyah decided to play their shot in the dark scrolls because they knew they were in danger. Both of their scrolls pulled up a “Not Safe” message. So, all votes for them still counted.
Jenna got 2 votes, and Aaliyah received 5 votes. So, with the 5 votes, Aaliyah was voted off. She said, “Bye guys. Thanks for allowing me to play with you” on the way out.
Aaliyah told the private cams, “I think what went wrong was just that I’m not as good at playing Survivor as I thought I was. I’m just really grateful that I got this opportunity to play Survivor.”
