Ashton Kutcher Kicked CNN’s Butt on ‘Twitter’
On late Thursday, Ashton Kutcher, the former “That 70’s Show” actor and former host of MTV’s “Punk’d” edged out the giant news media company, CNN to be the first to get a million followers on “Twitter”. I knew someone would have a contest like this. It’s like when Myspace first started to become really popular, and everyone would brag about how many friends they had. Anyways, he was able to win the coveted million, Twitter, follower crown by becoming the ringleader of a frenetic digital circus act which included Larry King, video game maker Electronic Arts Inc., a 25 year old Web developer from London, and a ton of online participants.
The winner of the contest agreed to donate 10,000 mosquito nets to charity for World Malaria Day on April 25,2009. On Wednesday. Kutcher had like 50,000 fewer visitors than CNN. But he somehow found a way to rally over the giant. Ashton said he couldn’t believe that one person could have an equal audience of a whole cable news network online.
Also CNN was stating that for the first two years, they weren’t even running or owned their Twitter account. James Cox,a 25 year old Brit was quietly running the account for them since January of 2007. Then here recently,CNN said maybe it’s time they join in on the fun with James. Either way, Kutcher rules !
