Riverdale Season 2 Is Bringing On A New Evil Villain, New Details
According to a new report from the folks over at io9.gizmodo.com, we’re about to see a very weird and creepy new evil villain arrive on the scene at some point in the upcoming season 2. They pointed out that the show’s producer Robert Aguirre-Sacasa recently posted a strange photo on his official Twitter account.
It featured a drawing of characters Cheryl and Jason being chased by someone called the Sugar Man. Robert captioned the pic with the words: “Lock your doors, Riverdale, the Sugar Man is coming…” You guys can see his Twitter Post by clicking here.
They did some research on this Sugar Man character and their wasn’t anything about him in the Archie Comics. However, they did do a Google search on him. They found a Reddit thread that described the Sugar Man as being a “cowardly but murderous creature that sneaks into people’s homes and eats them if it can’t find something to satisfy its hunger for candy canes.”
We don’t know for sure if this will be the same Sugar Man that Sacasa is teasing. However, whoever it turns out to be is going to definitely cause trouble for Archie and company. Some people are saying this villain could possibly be supernatural. If that does turn out to be the case, it could lead to them bringing on the teenage witch Sabrina Spellman from the “Archie: Afterlife” comics to deal with it.
Of course, all of this is pure speculation as Sacasa only provided that photo tease and didn’t reveal any other details about this so-called Sugarman. He did imply that he will definitely be dangerous though. So, we can definitely count on that to happen.
It’s believed that the Sugar Man could end up stalking Cheryl and her mother Penelope at some point. However, at the beginning of season 2, Chery’s mom will certainly need to be worried about Cheryl. It’s reported that Cheryl is going to get even more vicious and mean.
In the first preview trailer for season 2, there’s a scene that features Cheryl not really showing any kind of remorse over her mother being laid up in the hospital in bandages over her face due to Cheryl burning the house down.
In related news, Lili Reinhart recently gave an interview to Comicbook.com and told them that her character Betty will get enveloped in darkness. She’s also going to be a huge focal point of a big mystery that’s going on. It’s all going to totally stress her to her limits!
We’ll also be seeing Veronica experience some darkness which is supposed to be even darker than dark Betty. Her ex-boyfriend Nick is supposed to show up and do something very bad to her. Cheryl will be involved in this same scenario. It sounds really serious as it will end up causing all the girls to band together to fight it!
