Former Grey’s Anatomy April Kepner Star Sarah Drew Recently Discussed A Possible Return
Happy Wednesday, “Grey’s Anatomy” fans. We’re back at you with some more very interesting news for your favorite show. It turns out that everyone’s been wanting to talk to former April Kepner star Sarah Drew these days. In our last report on her, a People.com article revealed that she just couldn’t watch any of the new, Grey’s Anatomy season 15 episodes because it just felt too much like everyone had moved on without her.
In this latest story, the folks over at Entertainment Tonight got a chance to talk to Sarah about what her outlook is on possibly returning to Grey’s Anatomy one day. She ended up telling them that she can never say never to the idea because she considers her former Grey’s castmembers to be family to her.
However, she revealed that she had to put herself in a head space to where she completely let go of the April character because she can’t live constantly wondering if she would be able to return or not.
Sarah explained, “I’ll never say never because they are my family. I still love everyone over there. I love that community and I still have such an incredible space in my heart for everyone over there. But I really do feel like, because of how it went down, I really had to part ways with April. I just had to. There was no way for me to live in a space of possibility of her returning and also be healthy in my letting go of all of it. So, I really have said goodbye to her.
I’ve loved her and I’ve said thank you to her ,and I’ve enjoyed my journey being with her. She feels like an appendage. She’s a person. She’s a real person in my life. It’s a long time to embody someone nine months out of the year, and I really had to say goodbye to her. I think saying hello again would be hard. But again, I’ll never say never.”
Sarah’s April character departed the show by marrying her former love Matthew Taylor played by actor Justin Bruening. Entertainment Tonight also talked with Justin about his Matthew character. He thought it was much more intriguing to play Matthew this time around because of everything he went through.
He stated,”Matthew became much more intriguing to me because of what he went through this season. A lot more fun to play, where I kind of had a different role. It was fun playing the same character except completely different from before. It was older, wiser and it was fun, but at the same time, my story was fulfilled so I was like, ‘Alright cool, I can live with this.'”
Sarah also talked to Entertainment Tonight about acting with actor Jesse Williams aka Jackson Avery on Grey’s Anatomy. She said it was a really great relationship and she loves him. She stated, “We went through as acting partners and as friends. Doing the kind of work that we had to do as acting partners bonds people. You just bond doing stuff that is that heart-wrenching and that intense.
It felt really good to have someone that we could both 100% lean on one another and trust one another. When we were in those scenes together. We just knew that the other one would lift the other one up. It was sweet. It was special. It was a really special working relationship, so I love that guy.”
Back in June 2018, Entertainment Tonight got a chance to talk to Jesse Williams about working with Sarah Drew. He had lots of lovely things to say about her as well. He expressed that he was very sad that she was leaving the show, but he was really proud of their time together.
He stated, “I mean, the whole thing is sad. It’s unfortunate. That’s my partner, my road dog. So, it was unpleasant, but she’s such a professional and did such incredible work down to the last frame ,and I’m really proud to have had our time together.”
Entertainment Tonight also pointed out that Sarah is actually reuniting with her Grey’s Anatomy Matthew Taylor co-star Justin Bruening for a brand new movie! It’s called,”Invisible.” It’s scheduled to hit theaters this Friday, October 26, 2018.
In the new “Invisible” movie, Sarah plays character Heather Hunter. A brief description of it reads like this, “The extraordinary true story of Army Chaplain Darren Turner and his wife Heather. When war etches battle scars on their hearts, they face one more battle: the fight to save their marriage. One marriage, one family, under God.”
