ABC served up an official press release for tonight’s new episode 31. So, we will certainly reference it for this preview session. Let’s get to it.
For starters, we’ve got an official title for this new episode 31. It’s called, “To Have and to Hoax.” In tonight’s new episode 31, the 20/20 team will take a deep look at a story about a woman named Sherri Papini. She mysteriously went missing back on November 2, 2016, and she finally reappeared weeks later with a story about being kidnapped.
Her story was believed at first, but some other details eventually surfaced and caused some doubts to creep into the picture regarding the truth about her story. From there, Sherri Paapini’s kidnapping story was eventually exposed as a total fabrication and hoax, and she went to prison for 10 months for it.
The 20/20 team will also interview Sherri’s ex-husband Keith Papini. This interview will explore the intricate details of Sherri’s case, her motivation for doing what she did and more.
ABC’s official description for tonight’s new episode 31 of 20/20 season 46 reads like this, “Interview with Keith Papini after his ex-wife, Sherri Papini, served 10 months in prison for lying to federal agents about her fabricated kidnapping.”
An alternate description tells us, “In a new ABC News interview, Keith Papini, Sherri’s ex-husband, speaks out for the first time since her arrest. This episode of “20/20” explores the twists and turns of the case, examining the motivations behind the deception and its profound impact on those involved.”
