Riverdale Season 2 Bringing On Toni Topaz Girl For Possible Betty,Jughead Trouble
Alright, so yesterday was a really big day at Comic-Con as most of the cast and crew of CW’s hit show Riverdale were on hand to reveal some juicy spoiler details for season 2 during their Q&A panel.
According to Screenrant, they revealed that they will be bringing on a new beauty by the name of Toni Topaz. She will be played by actress Vanessa Morgan (above). Toni is described as being a vivacious member of the Southside Serpents. She’s known for sporting her signature pink hair. They say she also has an impressive appetite. They didn’t mention for what though. I guess we’ll figure that out later.
What’s really intriguing is that they said that Toni is going to become friends with Jughead which could set up some major problems for he and Betty’s relationship! Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa who is the showrunner for the show told Entertainment Tonight that Toni might definitely test their relationship!
He said: “Bughead is pretty strong, and pretty undeniable, and pretty epic, but you know even the most epic of romances has trouble. And trouble often comes as a third party. So yes, it is conceivable that Toni will potentially test the limits of Bughead.”
Roberto also further commented about how much he liked Vanessa when she auditioned last year. He stated: “Vanessa auditioned for us last year and we all fell in love with her. We didn’t have a spot for her last year. But I called her after she auditioned and tested and I said, ‘I’m so sorry I’m not going to be able to bring you aboard this year, but I love you and I promise you’re going to come and be a part of Riverdale next year.”
In the Archie Comics there’s apparently strong hints that Toni is bisexual and it’s confirmed that this topic will get explored. Toni will also definitely rock her pink hair. It’s also possible that we’ll see a minor storyline for Toni since they have a full 22 episodes to work this season. We’ll see. According to IMDB, we’re supposed to see Toni’s first appearance in the season 2 premiere episode that’s titled, “A Kiss Before Dying.” So, that’s very interesting. They’re not wasting anytime to introduce her.
Vanessa Morgan’s acting resume includes roles in the hit MTV show “The Shannara Chronicles, “ Degrassi: The Next Generation,” “Finding Carter” and more. She’s had quite a busy career. Welcome her aboard! Season 2 is set to premiere on October 11,2017 at 7pm central time on The CW. Stay tuned.
