Hey, “MasterChef” fans. Tonight, August 23, 2023, another new episode of MasterChef’s current season 13 did indeed hit the air with judges: Joe Bastianich, Gordon Ramsay, and Aarón Sánchez. We saw two back-to-back episodes hit the air tonight. That means two people were eliminated after the two episodes wrapped up.
The first episode kicked off with the contestants learning they were no longer cooking in regional groups. So, they couldn’t be saved from elimination if someone from their region won. They were given a mystery box challenge. It was filled with army rations. They had to make a gourmet dish out of them. Chef Andre Rush showed up to do some guest judging.
Next, Gordon and Andre made some example dishes from the rations to inspire the contestants. The contestants had to use at least three ration ingredients. The person with the best dish won an immunity pin. The person with the worst dish got eliminated. They were given 60 minutes to complete this challenge.
During the challenge, Gordon told Charles, “Your dish is too salty and spicy right now. I’m really worried about you right now. Get it together.” Joe and Aaron told Brynn that she might have a seasoning issue going on with her dish. “Be careful,” Joe said.
Gordon told Nina her dish is too acidic. Joe told Wayne he’s trying to use too many ingredients. Aaron said Wayne might be too ambitious. Wayne said his lamb was undercooked when time ran out. “There’s no way the judges are letting me get away with that,” he said.
At this point, the judges took a look at all the dishes and decided that the top 3 dishes belonged to Grant,Kolby and Brynn.
Grant presented a Cracker Crusted Amberjack with Lentil & Spinach Puree and Pan Fried Gnocchi dish. Gordon said, “The puree is delicious. Great job.” Andre said, “The fish is nice.” Joe said, “This dish tasted like a dish that was cooked in an open pantry. Good job.”

It’s just delicious.” Aaron said, “It taste great.” Andre said,”You really elevated this. It was great, delicious, and the sauce was on point.” Gordon said, “Really good job. Well done.”

Good job.” Andre said, “Everything is vibrant.” Aaron said,”You utilized the rations great.” After all of that, the judges decided that Grant’s dish was the best. So, he won the immunity pen.

Just pick a few things and do them great.
Nina presented a Chicken Tikka Masala with Lentil Dahl, Pickled Onions and Lemon & Cilantro Salsa dish. Gordon said, “It was too acidic for me.” Aaron said, “This was not good use of the rations.” Andre said, “This didn’t do it for me. Everything taste the same.” Joe said, “All these ingredients backfired on you.”

Gordon said, “I can’t tell you how upset I am with the cook on the lamb.” Andre said, “You’re lucky the lamb was cooked good enough to eat.” Joe said, “The lamb was still very undercooked.” Gordon said, “Everything else was spot on, but you tripped up with the lamb.” Aaron said, “You utilized the rations in a smart way.”
After all of that, the judges said Nina had the worst dish. So, she was eliminated. Gordon said, “You didn’t highlight the rations tonight, but don’t give up.” Nina told the private cams, “It sucks when the vision you have in your head doesn’t quite come out right, but I’ll take being the 13th best cook of this season.”
In the second episode, the contestants learned they had to do a team challenge. Grant was safe from elimination for winning the last challenge, but he still had to participate in the tag team challenge. They had to cook a 3-course meal for this challenge, which was: The appetizer: Fresh Tagliatelle with Sautéed Shrimp, Lemon Cream Sauce and Caviar. The entree: Pepper Crusted Filet Mignon with Truffle Mashed Potato, Broccolini and Steak Au Poivre Sauce. Gordon said, “Jennifer and Charles are in trouble.” At one point, Charles told Gordon,”My brain is shutting down” because he kept making mistake after mistake, and Gordon kept getting on his case.
Grant and Brynn said their white wine sauce was burnt. So, they needed to correct it with less than 5 minutes to go. Jennifer started crying about their dishes when the time was up saying, “It looks so terrible.”
Next, the teams presented their dishes. Kolby and Lizzy were up first. Gordon said, “The shrimp was slighty overcooked. You nailed the steak. The potatoes could be more creamy.” Joe said, “Good job.” Gordon said, “Great job” on the dessert. Joe said of the dessert, “It’s quite good.”

Joe said,”Good job” on the pudding.

Gordon and Aaron said the dessert was great.
