Grey’s Anatomy Meredith Grey Star Ellen Pompeo Revealed Why She Must Keep Doing The Show

Happy Thursday, “Grey’s Anatomy” fans. We know you guys must be excited to see your favorite show return to ABC’s primetime line up tonight. We have some news that’s pretty exciting and touching at the same time. Recently, the main star of Grey’s Anatomy Ellen Pompeo aka Meredith Grey recently shared a very emotional and heartfelt story about how the show has helped people.

After she told this story, it made her say that she just has to continue doing the show. Apparently, it’s just touching too many people’s lives for her to just quit and ignore it. The moment we’re talking about happened when Ellen recently did another interview with Ellen DeGeneres on her daytime talk show this past Tuesday, October 24, 2018 according to the folks over at People.com.

At one point, Ellen mentioned that she gets approached by fans with literal tears in their eyes, telling her how meaningful the show is to them! Then she told one story about a male, gay teenager who played a gay character on the show. The teenager told Ellen that the show actually helped him come out to his parents about being gay. It also helped his parents understand that it’s ok to have a gay son.

Ellen explained with tears in her eyes, “A teenager was in the show, and he was gay, and played a gay character on the show. After we had filmed the whole entire episode he said, ‘My whole life I’ve watched the show with my parents and I’ve sort of used the show to tell my parents I’m gay. To show my parents: It’s okay that I’m not different and there’s nothing wrong with me. Grey’s really helped my parents to understand what having a gay son meant and that it wasn’t necessarily a bad thing.’ ”


After Ellen revealed that story, she became very emotional and said, “I got to keep doing it, man, because we’re touching lives and making a difference.”

People.com went on to point out that Ellen was recently honored with a GLSEN Respect Award from the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network for striving for gender parity in Hollywood.The organization presented her with the Inspiration Award for her work with organizations like the child provision charity Baby2Bay, the Children’s Defense Fund, and the disability employment advocacy service Lifeworks, as well as her open support for LGBTQ equality and the #TimesUp movement.

I can tell you that it definitely sounds like good news for the longevity of the show. As previously reported, the Grey’s Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes has stated in the past that as long as Ellen wants to keep doing Grey’s Anatomy, they’ll keep making them. However on the flip side of that, she said that the show would end when Ellen is ready to quit. So, right now, things are looking great. Ellen has also said that as long as you guys, the fans want to see more Grey’s Anatomy, she will keep doing it.
