New This Is Us Season 4 Spoilers Already Revealed Even Though NBC Hasn’t Renewed It Yet
Hey, “This Is Us” fans. We hope you guys enjoyed the big season 3 finale episode tonight. Since it has officially aired and is over, the question of season 4 pops to mind. Did NBC renew the show for a season 4? Or have they called it quits? Well, the answer to that is neither. NBC hasn’t done anything yet. We’re still waiting on them to officially announce something, anything!
We do have some very positive news though. The chances of “This Is Us” getting a new season 4 seem very likely with just about any news outlet that has reported on it and rightfully so. The LIVE ratings and viewership numbers for the show are strong even though they dipped a little bit this season.
Another very enlightening thing that should give you guys a lot of confidence in a new season 4 is that the creator of “This Is Us” Dan Fogelman already wrote a premiere episode for season 4!
According to the folks over at TVseriesfinale.com, Dan teased some new storyline developments for season 4 at a recent panel. During Dan’s statement, he revealed that Rebecca’s father is going to be more involved in the storylines.
The This Is Us world is also going grow some more in a very interesting way. Dan stated, “Rebecca’s (Mandy Moore) father is going to become a prominent part of the show.Our world is going to expand a little bit in a really interesting way. Where we’re starting the season next year is as ambitious as we’ve been in a storytelling way.”
Let’s take a look at the ratings and viewership numbers for season 3. As I mentioned earlier, they were very strong. However, they did dip quite a bit. The season 3 premiere episode brought in 10.542 million viewers, and it scored a 2.97 ratings score for the 18 to 49 year old demographic.
The most recent episode 17 that air last Tuesday, March 26, 2019 brought in 7.361 million viewers, and it scored a 1.67 rating. So, as you can see, there was a big,big drop in viewership numbers following the premiere. There were a few up and down dips in between. But mostly, the viewership numbers held pretty firm at between 8 million and 7 million viewers per episode. That’s definitely strong enough to keep a slot open in NBC’s prime time line up.
It’s speculated that NBC is actually just waiting until May to officially announce that season 4 is really happening. We definitely expect that you guys have nothing to worry about as far as a season 4 renewal is concerned, but still cross your fingers just in case.
