‘Tough As Nails’ August 19, 2020 Eliminated Young An From Individual Competitions (Recap)
Hey, “Tough As Nails” fans. Tonight, August 19, 2020, another new episode of Tough As Nails did indeed air, and another unlucky contestant saw their shot at the ultimate $200,000 grand prize for individual competitions disappear.
Tonight’s episode kicked off with the team competition. This was another very important comp because Dirty Hands were competing for the most team comp wins that comes with a $60,000 dollar reward.
The Savage Crew were competing to stay in the running to win the $60,000 team prize. At this point, the Dirty Hands crew led the Savage Crew 4-2 in team competition wins.
During this team challenge, the teams had to clear a firebreak that was 6 feet wide and 60 feet long. The first team to get it done, won $12,000 dollars.
The Savage Crew chose Luis to be their team leader for this challenge. The Dirty Hands team chose Callie to be their team leader.
When it was all said and done, it came down to the wire, but the Savage Crew were able to squeak by fast enough to beat the Dirty Hands crew for the win. This win made the Savage Crew trail just 4-3 in team competition wins, and it allowed the Savage Crew to stay in the running to possibly win the $60,000 dollar, team grand prize.
Next, they did the individual challenge. In it, they had to rescue a fake victim from a very hazardous building. The one with the fastest time, won. The two people with the bottom 2 times had to compete in overtime.
Murph was given a special advantage of 30 seconds cut off his time for winning the last individual comp.
Callie was up first. Danny went second. Young went 3rd. Myles went 4th. Murph went 5th, and Linda went 6th. Myles won the individual comp with a time of 2:44 seconds.
Danny’s time was 3:49 seconds. Linda’s time was 3:54 seconds. Callie’s time was 3:55 seconds.
Murph’s time was 13 minutes. They didn’t say what Young’s time was, but it was the second to last slowest time. So, Murph and Young had to compete in overtime.
In the overtime challenge, Murph and Young had to connect fire hoses and run them up a tall building. Then use the hoses to put out two large flames and repel down the tall building. The one who did it in the fastest time, won.
When it was all said and done,Young finished in 10:42 seconds. Murph finished in 10:25 seconds. So, Murph pulled out the overtime victory over Young. So,sadly, Young was eliminated from the individual competitions, which comes with the shot at the grand prize of $200,000 dollars.

Pretty sad when a firefighter gets eliminated on a task that he does for a living and so called trained for.
Sorry but he did the LAFD look bad.
Bless his heart, Young is just not too athletic. He got eliminated doing the thing he does for a living. I would like to say Good Job Murph.
Fan of the show’s format & content. Tonight was a disappointment for Young’s elimination- hello, he is a Fireman by profession. His station will have fun with that. Look forward to remaining shows, you rock!
Oh I just love “Tough as Nails.” I love how everyone has to stay on and continue competing. I think you learn a lot about a person in a team situation.
It’s going to be awhile before Young lives this defeat down back at his fire station. Lost by seconds. Maybe if he were taller or Murph shorter? Keep up the good work contestants!
Close listening to both Young An and Murph showed that both men were responding to their training of looking for all survivors and in Murph’s case not leaving a man behind, which accounts for their slower times. Also, Young was keeping the hose from entanglement on the way up the staircase, which is another part of his training. I think both men should be applauded for their service.
Everyone on the show that remains seems to have a knack for diffrent competitions i think theyre all working class warriors in theyre own way great job an great show!
I’m sad to miss the ending because the recording was used up on part of the THE BROTHERS show.
It’s sad for Young but I’m proud of our marine hero.. you go Murth??. Heights n all..
Love the show and all contestants are real life day to day workers at car jobs. They are all heroes. I was hoping for Young An to win as that is his profession. I hope they are not too hard on him once he gets back to work. Murph always overcomes obstacles. I like everyone especially the host. Good luck everyone. ??
So surprised Young was unable to win this individual competition. But happy for Murph. CBS, get your act together for those who DVR Tough As Nails!
Love the show. Had to hunt to find out who won the individual test at the end. Was glad to here that the Marine fellow won. It just goes to show you that a person can over come things when it is important to them. One great at a BOY.!!
Pretty brutal for young to get eliminated in a fire challenge. Murph really is tough as nails. Way to overcome your fears and pull out a win.
