This Is Us Season 5, May 25, 2021 Episode 16 Is The Finale. Season 6 Is Happening
Hey, “This Is Us” fans. We are back on here, tonight, to tell you a couple of important things about your favorite NBC drama This Is Us. The first thing we’re going to tell you is that tonight’s episode 16 was indeed the finale episode for this current season 5. So, you guys will have to wait around for a couple of months for the next, new episode of This Is Us.
The good news is that you will get to see another new episode of This is Us because we can officially confirm that NBC did indeed renew This Is Us for a brand new season 6! That’s right, guys. You can totally expect to get blasted with yet another new season of This Is Us goodness during the 2021/2022 season.
This is old news ,though, because NBC actually gave season 6 a very early renewal way back in 2019. At that time, they renewed This Is Us for seasons 4,5 and 6.
As great as this season 6 renewal news is, it’s followed up with some more bad news. We sadly have to tell you that season 6 will be the last season of This Is Us. The folks over at TV Line gave us a little insight as to why This Is Us will end after season 6.
Apparently, the show’s creator Dan Fogle commented about it in 2019 by saying he never really planned for the show to be a long-running series, and that the season 3 finale should be considered the mid-point for the show.
He stated, “I think we’re roughly in the middle of where the television series is going to go. We never set out to make a television series that was going to last 18 seasons, and so we have a very direct plan… I think where you find the characters right now, you’re in the middle of their story. If you were in the movie theater, you’d be at the moment where you’re about an hour into the movie wondering what’s going to happen.”
Currently, it’s not yet known how many episodes this last season 6 of This is us will feature, but it is expected to deliver about 18 episodes, starting this Fall 2021. We’ll have to wait until later on this summer for NBC to officially confirm that important information.
This Is Us season 5 averaged 5.593 million LIVE viewers per episode and a 1.03 ratings score for the 18-49 year old demographics. The most recent episode 15, which aired last Tuesday night, May 18, 2021, drew in 4.700 million LIVE viewers and a 0.80 ratings score.
The most-watched episodes were episodes 1 and 2 with 7.299 million LIVE viewers. The least-watched episode was episode 12 with 4.530 million LIVE viewers.
The highest-rated episodes were episodes 1 and 2 with a 1.41 ratings score. The lowest-rated episodes were episodes 12 and 13. They both tied for last place with a 0.79 ratings score.
