Chicago PD Season 8, May 26, 2021 Episode 16 Is The Finale. Season 9 Is Happening
Hey, “Chicago P.D.” fans. We hope you totally had a blast watching tonight’s episode 16. We are back on here because we do have some important Chicago PD news to run by you. To start, we must tell you that tonight’s episode 16 of Chicago PD’s current season 8 was indeed the finale episode. That, of course, means season 8 is officially done.
We’re not sure why season 8 was so short. We think it might be due to the filming difficulties surround the awful pandemic situation.
The good news is that the Chicago PD series is not done. We can officially tell you that Chicago PD has been renewed for a brand new season 9 by the terrific folks over at NBC. That’s right, guys. You can crack open a champagne bottle because the new season 9 is officially a thing.
According to the folks over at TV Line, NBC actually renewed Chicago PD for a new season 9 last February 2020. At that time, NBC served up 3-season renewal deals to the entire Chicago franchise of shows Chicago Med, Chicago Fire and Chicago PD.
That means not only is Chicago PD renewed for a new season 9, it’s also renewed for a new season 10! So, you guys should be all set until the end of the 2022/2023 season.
Currently, it is not yet known how many episodes Chicago PD season 9 will serve up. We do presume that it will premiere in the Fall 2021. However, we will have to wait until NBC releases their new Fall 2021 schedule to get official confirmation on that.
They should be releasing it in a couple of weeks. So, be on the look out for it. As for the season 9 episode count, we hope that things will be normal enough later on this summer for the cast to get back to filming a full, 22-episode season again. We’ll have to wait and see.
Chicago PD season 8 averaged 6.072 million LIVE viewers per episode and a 0.87 ratings score for the 18-49 year old demographics. The most recent episode which aired last Wednesday night,May 19, 2021, drew in 5.640 million LIVE viewers and a 0.82 ratings score.
The most-viewed episode was episode 3 with 6.581 million LIVE viewers. The least-viewed episode was episode 15 with 5.640 million LIVE viewers.
The highest-rated episode was episode 1 with a 0.98 ratings score. The lowest-rated episode was episode 11 with a 0.76 ratings score.
