Dancing With The Stars October 18, 2021 Eliminated Melanie C & Gleb Savchenko (Recap)
Hey, “Dancing With The Stars” fans. Tonight, October 18, 2021, another LIVE performance/results show for Dancing With The Stars’s current season 30 did indeed air, and another unlucky couple did get sent packing.
The judges: Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli and Derek Hough were on hand to give their usual critiques and scores. Tonight’s theme was the classic 70’s musical movie “Grease.” So, all the couples danced to songs from that movie.
Tonight’s performances kicked off with Olivia Jade and Val Chmerkovskiy performing the Foxtrot to “Summer Nights” song. Afterwards, Len said, “It was full of fun, and it was entertaining. Val also had great choreography.”
Derek said, “You are a perfect Sandy with an unbelievable frame. Bruno said, “You captured the sweet innocence and kept a beautiful foxtrot going.” Carrie Ann said, “Your body contact in hold was amazing.”
Carrie Ann gave Olivia and Val a 9 score, Len a 9, Derek a 9, Bruno a 9 for a total of 36 points out of a possible 40 points.
Melora Hardin and Artem Chigvintsev served up a Viennese Waltz number to “Look at Me, I’m Sandra Dee” song. Afterwards, Derek said, “You are the gift that keeps on giving, but you got a little congested up top while you were in hold.”
Bruno said, “You take the characters you play and make them your own. You play it so well.” Carrie Ann said, “You make everyone want to dance with you because you make it look fun.” Len said, “I feel better for having seeing that because you play your characters so well.”
Carrie Ann gave Melora and Artem a 9, Len a 9, Derek a 9, Bruno a 9 for a total of 36 points.
Iman Shumpert and Danielle Karagach danced a Viennese Waltz to “Hopelessly Devoted to You” song. Afterwards, Bruno said, “I could really feel the sense of a love story, but you need to keep the sense of an eagle in flight instead of stooping down to Daniella when you’re in hold.”
Carrie Ann said, “This dance wasn’t the best suited to you, but I appreciated the chemistry between you two.” Len said, “I liked the gentleness of the routine, but your technique isn’t great.” Derek said, “I love Iman in general, and it was a great effort.”
Carrie Ann gave Iman and Danielle a 7, Len a 7, Derek a 7, Bruno a 7 for a total of 28 points
The Miz and Witney Carson delivered a Jive routine to “Greased Lightnin’” song. Afterwards, Carrie Ann said, “I loved your energy, but you were ahead of the song most of the way.”
Len said, “Some of the steps were problematic, but you rushed it.” Derek said, “It was rushed and lacked a little bit of clarity.” Bruno said, “The timing went wrong at the end, but what a performance.”
Carrie Ann gave The Miz and Witney an 8, Len an 8, Derek an 8, Bruno an 8 for a total of 32 points.
Amanda Kloots and Alan Bersten danced a Viennese Waltz to “Beauty School Dropout” song. Afterwards, Len said, “You certainly won’t be a “Dancing with the Stars” dropout.”
Derek said, “You’re consistently fantastic with a beautiful frame and great use of your legs, but I want a little more to tip it over the edge.” Bruno said, “You have nothing to fear and plenty to spare when it comes to your legs and movement.” Carrie Ann said, “You had technique, elegance, musicality, and storytelling.”
Carrie Ann gave Amanda and Alan a 10, Len a 10, Derek a 9, Bruno a 10 for a near perfect score of 39.
Suni Lee and Sasha Farber danced a Charleston dance to “Born to Hand Jive” song. Afterwards,Derek said, “I loved the iconic moment with your foot on his chest.”
Bruno said, “I liked that you threw everything at it.” Carrie Ann said, “It was fantastic. You did a great job, but some of your movements could be a little more aggressive.” Len said, “I liked the elements of Charleston, and I smiled the whole way through.”
Carrie Ann gave Suni and Sasha a 9, Len a 9, Derek a 9, Bruno a 9 for a total of 36 points.
Jimmie Allen and Emma Slater served up a Foxtrot routine to, “Sandy” song. Afterwards, Bruno said, “You were good in hold and good side by side, and it looked like the slip was due to some errant confetti on the floor.”
Carrie Ann said, “You’re bigger out of hold than in hold. So,I want to see more balance.” Len said, “You have flair and enthusiasm even though the technique and posture need work.” Derek said, “It had content and storytelling, the complete package.”
Carrie Ann gave Jimmie and Emma an 8, Len an 8, Derek a 9, Bruno a 9 for a total of 34 points.
Kenya Moore and Brandon Armstrong performed a Rumba number to “There Are Worse Things I Could Do” song. Afterwards, Carrie Ann said, “I’m happy you’re still in the competition to perform a routine like that. It was delicious and sensuous.”
Len said, “It had chemistry,romance,control, and it was spot-on.” Derek said, “I appreciated the stunning half-split at the beginning, and you had great use of your arms.” Bruno said, “You were focused on translating emotion through motion.”
Carrie Ann gave Kenya a 9, Len a 9, Derek a 9, Bruno a 9 for a total of 36 points.
JoJo Siwa and Jenna Johnson delivered a Foxtrot dance to “Look at Me, I’m Sandra Dee” song. Afterwards, Len said, “You affected my brain with the quality of the technique, and you affected my heart.”
Derek said, “I loved the partnership between you two. The opening turn was stellar. There was power and grace. That was a moment.” Bruno said, “The musicality was spot-on.” Carrie Ann said, “It was perfection.”
Carrie Ann gave JoJo and Jenna a 10, Len a 10, Derek a 10, Bruno a 10 for a perfect 40 score!
Melanie C and Gleb Savchenko danced a Quickstep to “You’re the One That I Want” song. Afterwards, Derek said, “You were phenomenal despite a teeny, little mistake.”
Bruno said, “It takes guts to do a quickstep in lycra with all the attention on the legs.” Carrie Ann said, “I noticed you started nervous, but it came to life when you started having fun.” Len said, “It was your best dance so far.”
Carrie Ann gave Melanie C and Gleb a 9, Len a 9, Derek a 9, Bruno a 9 for a total of 36 points.
Cody Rigsby and Cheryl Burke performed the last dance of the night, which was a Quickstep number to “We Go Together” song. Afterwards, Bruno said, “I felt the uplifting celebration, but you need to work on the sections in hold and the footwork.”
Carrie Ann said, “I’m impressed by that performance after you had COVID, but you need to be closer in hold.” Len said, “You need a stronger frame, but I appreciate your energy.” Derek said, “Your frame improved.”
Carrie Ann gave Cody and Cheryl an 8, Len an 8, Derek an 8, Bruno an 8 for a total of 32 points.
After all of that, host Tyra Banks revealed that every couple was safe except for Olivia Jade & Val Chmerkovskiy and Melanie C & Gleb Savchenko. They were the bottom two vote-getters after America’s votes were counted.
The judges got to vote to save one of them. Derek voted to save Olivia & Val. Carrie Ann voted to save Melanie C & Gleb. Bruno voted to save Melanie C & Gleb. Since it was a 2-1 vote, they made Glen be the deciding vote again this week,and he decided to save Olivia & Val.
