The Good Doctor Season 5, May 16, 2022 Episode 18 Is The Finale. Season 6 Is Happening
Hey, “The Good Doctor” fans. We hope you guys totally enjoyed and savored every single minute and second of episode 18, tonight, especially since it was indeed the very last episode of this current season 5. That’s right, guys. Episode 18 was the season 5 finale episode. That means you’re going to have to make due without a new episode for a while.
The good news is that you will eventually see some more new episodes of The Good Doctor at some point in the future because we can officially confirm that ABC has greenlit a brand new season 6! So, The Good Doctor will officially be back with a new slate of brand new episodes for the 2022-2023 season.
Currently, we don’t have an official premiere date for the new season 6, but we’re sure it will show up sometime in the Fall 2022 since ABC did give season 6 a whopping, 22-episode order according to the folks over at TVline.com . That’s right, guys. You’re going to get an additional 4 episodes next season.
Additionally, TVLine reported that The Good Doctor is adding two, new intern characters for season 6. They casts actor Brandon Larracuente to come on and play character Daniel aka Danny. He’s described as being a charming intern with an interest in somewhat controversial alternative medicine. Outside of the hospital, he is a bit of a lone wolf and an intriguing mystery to his co-workers.
For the second character, they casts actress Savannah Welch to come on and play character Danica aka Danni. She’s described as being an Annapolis grad who completed med school in the Navy. Danni is described as being charismatic, ethical to a fault, and competitive both inside and outside the hospital. She’s mature beyond her years and surprisingly comfortable defying authority, which is certain to stir up some drama.
Both of these new characters will be recurring with the option of possibly being bumped up to series regulars in the future.
The Good Doctor season 5 averaged 3.740 million LIVE viewers per episode, and a 0.40 ratings score for the 18-49 year old demographics. The most recent episode 17, which aired last Monday night, May 9, 2022, drew in 3.081 million LIVE viewers, and a 0.35 ratings score.
The most-viewed episode was episode 7 with 4.220 million LIVE viewers. The least-viewed episode was episode 18 with the 3.081 million LIVE viewers.
The highest-rated episode was episode 7 with a 0.49 ratings score. The lowest-rated episode was episode 18 with a 0.35 ratings score. However, these Neilson ratings only give half the picture because The Good Doctor actually averaged 7.2 million viewers per episode with the Live+7 DVR playback numbers included in the equation. The average ratings number is also bumped up to a 0.90 score with the Live+7 DVR playback numbers factored in.
