Dancing With The Stars October 18, 2022 Eliminated Joseph Baena & Daniella (Recap)
Hey, “Dancing With The Stars” fans. Tonight, October 18, 2022, another new performances/results episode of Dancing With The Stars’ current season 31 did indeed arrive. Judges: Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough and Bruno Tonioli were, of course, back for another night of critiques and scores. Tonight’s theme was Prom Night for some reason.
Daniel Durant and Britt Stewart kicked off tonight’s performances with a Cha Cha number to “Sexyback” by Justin Timberlake. Afterwards, Len said, “I liked the hip action, but your free arm needs to move more.” Derek said, “I appreciate your swag and confidence, but your footwork got a little messy.”
Bruno said, “You can turn on the sex appeal at will, and it was on the right level, but you need more work on your footwork.” Carrie Ann said, “This was a solid routine, but you need to exaggerate some of your movements. Your movements, right now, feel too contained and safe.”
Carrie Ann gave Daniel & Britt an 8 score, Len an 8, Derek an 8 and Bruno an 8 for a total of 32 points out of a possible 40 points.
Heidi D’Amelio and Artem Chigvintsev delivered a Jazz number to “Girls Just Want To Have Fun” by Cyndi Lauper. Afterwards, Derek said, “You came alive in the side-by-side section. It was well-done and beautiful.” Bruno said, “You played the part tonight, but there was a little bobble on the dismount on the lift.” Carrie Ann said, “I wanted to see more. You’re so strong of a dancer that you could have delivered more.” Len said, “I liked the hustle and jive elements, and you looked like you were having fun.”
Carrie Ann gave Heidi & Artem an 8 score, Len a 9, Derek an 8 and Bruno an 8 for a 33 score.
Vinny Guadagnino and Koko Iwasaki served up a Viennese Waltz dance to “You and Me” by Lifehouse. Afterwards, Bruno said, “You were a perfect gentleman, and you have come a very long way, but you need to polish the detail and work on musicality.” Carrie Ann said, “I liked how you worked on your height different in hold. The footwork was so-so, but it was a fun routine.” Len said, “I wanted to see more of the dance in the hold.”
Carrie Ann gave Vinny & Koko a 7 score, Len a 7, Derek a 7 and Bruno a 7 for a 28 score.
Shangela and Gleb Savchenko danced a Cha Cha to “Waiting For Tonight” by Jennifer Lopez. Afterwards, Carrie Ann said, “You hit every accent like there’s no tomorrow. Your form is getting better despite a few tiny missteps.” Len said, “I’m a big fan of yours. Once you got into the cha cha, I enjoyed it, but your legs aren’t as crisp as they should be.” Derek said, “Your footwork needs to be cleaned up, but I am also a fan of yours.” Bruno said, “You could open in Vegas. This was a power-loaded cha cha.”
Carrie Ann gave Shangela & Gleb a 9 score, Len an 8, Derek a 9 and Bruno a 9 for a 35 score.
Charli D’Amelio and Mark Ballas performed a Jive routine to “You Make My Dreams” by Hall & Oates. Afterwards, Len said, “I loved all the jive content, and your personality shined through.” Derek said, “I loved the choreography, the musicality and execution, but I wanted a little more energy in there.” Bruno said, “You’re a dancing dream. You didn’t miss a beat.” Carrie Ann said, “This routine was so tidy, and you articulate every movement, but there was a little something missing.”
Carrie Ann gave Charlie & Mark a 9 score, Len a 10, Derek a 9 and Bruno a 10 for a great 38 score.
Jessie James Decker and Alan Bersten danced a Viennese Waltz to “Breakaway” by Kelly Clarkson. Afterwards, Derek said, “There were a lot of beautiful things in this routine, and you’re getting better every week.” Bruno said, “It was classy. You worked on your poise and frame, and it shows.” Carrie Ann said, “I could see you growing and coming back. You need to come back and attack.” Len said, “I liked you in hold, but your hand movements will help you improve your arm movements.”
Carrie Ann gave Jessie & Alan an 8 score, Len an 8, Derek an 8 and Bruno an 8 for a 32 score.
Gabby Windey and Val Chmerkovskiy served up a Tango performance to “Good Girls Go Bad” by Cobra Starship. Afterwards, Bruno said, “This was a great tango. You had a twinkle in your eye that was sexy and fun, and you had lines to die for.” Carrie Ann said, “I have been asking you to give me more. This time, you had your best dance.”
Len said, “It was full of attack and purpose with sharp staccato movements. It was fantastic.” Derek said, “It was gorgeous with amazing legs, sharp, precise and crisp. Everything about it was perfect.”
Carrie Ann gave Gabby & Val a perfect 10 score, Len a 10, Derek a 10 and Bruno a 10 for a perfect 40 score!
Trevor Donovan and Emma Slater danced a Jive number to “Basket Case” by Green Day. Afterwards, Carrie Ann said, “I love that you go for intricate choreography and didn’t miss a step, but you keep your elbows too close to your body.”
Len said, “I wanted more straightness in your legs, but the side-by-side was tight and together.” Derek said, “I loved the Green Day. The performance lacked a little bounce. It seemed a little robotic, but I still enjoyed it.” Bruno said, “The routine was tight, compact, and full of energy, but you need to relax to get the bounce right.”
Carrie Ann gave Trevor & Emma an 8 score, Len an 8, Derek an 8 and Bruno an 8 for a 32 score.
Joseph Baena and Daniella Karagach delivered a Cha Cha dance to “Shut Up and Dance” by Walk The Moon. Afterwards, Len said, “Your foot placement was good. Your confidence has grown.” Derek said, “Your legs were inconsistent, and your thumb was weirdly sticking out.”
Bruno said, “You improved so much. You had a well placed upper body except for a little misplaced legs.” Carrie Ann said, “I love your attention to detail, and you understand movement. However, this dance wasn’t as good as last night’s dance.”
Carrie Ann gave Joseph & Daniella an 8 score, Len an 8, Derek an 8 and Bruno an 8 for a 32 score
Jordin Sparks and Brandon Armstrong rocked a Contemporary number to “No Air” by Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown. Afterwards, Derek said, “This was beautiful and well done with great arm movement.” Bruno said, “I loved the tonality with a sense of love, protection and affection.” Carrie Ann said, “This performance expressed the human condition.” Len said, “I didn’t care for the spinning lift in the middle of the routine. I wanted more dance.”
Carrie Ann gave a Jordin & Brandon a 9 score, Len an 8, Derek a 9 and Bruno a 9 for a 35 score.
Wayne Brady and Witney Carson danced a Samba routine to “It Takes Two” by Rob Base and DJ EZ Rock. Afterwards, Bruno said, “You two were the king and queen of samba, giving it your own style while maintaining the samba feel.” Carrie Ann said, “This was a breakthrough dance since your posture was so improved.” Len said, “This rarely happens,” and then he stood up and applauded them. Derek said, “I loved the vibe.”
