The good news is that we can officially confirm with you, tonight, that episode 18 is not the last episode you’ll ever see of Quantum Leap ever again because the folks over at NBC did indeed renew it for a brand new season 2! That’s right, guys. Crack open the champagne bottles and celebrate because another new season is coming your way at some point in the future.
According to the folks over at TVLine.com, this season 2 renewal actually came very early. NBC made the decision back in December 2022 to renew it. So, they were definitely pleased with its performance from the jump.
Lisa Katz who is the NBCUniversal Television and Streaming president of scripted content said some very positive words about the show during the renewal announcement saying, “We’re leaping into a second season thanks to the incredible work by our cast, producers, writers and everyone who has played a role in giving this iconic NBC series a new life. As we continue to bring audiences to our must-watch dramas, it’s gratifying to know Quantum Leap will have a prominent place next season both on our NBC schedule and next day on Peacock.”
Quantum Leap season 1 averaged 2.314 million LIVE viewers per episode, and a 0.33 ratings score for the 18-49 year old demographics. The most recent episode 17, which aired last Monday night, March 27, 2023, drew in 2.252 million LIVE viewers and a 0.29 ratings score.

Those are just the numbers for the LIVE Nielsen ratings. It’s probably at least double that number with the streaming numbers included.
According to TV Line, Quantum Leap is ranked 2 for all the new/freshman shows this season behind CBS’ “Fire Country” drama. We currently don’t know how many episodes season 2 will get or when it will debut. We’re guessing it will debut in the Fall 2023. We’ll see.
