New 48 Hours January 20, 2024 Episode Preview Revealed
Hey, “48 Hours” fans. We’re back to inform you that another new episode of 48 Hours is headed your way tonight, January 20, 2024. That’s right, guys. CBS is going to serve up the next, new episode 15 of 48 Hours’ current season 37 tonight, and we’ve got some new preview intel for it.
We were able to get an official press release for tonight’s new, January 20, 2024 edition via CBS. So, that is what we’ll be working with as a source for this preview session. Let’s get into it.
To begin, CBS let us know that this new episode 15 of 48 Hours season 37 does have an official title attached to it. It’s called, “For the Love of Cayley Mandadi.”
In tonight’s new, episode 15, the 48 Hours team will take a deep look at a story about a Texas woman named Cayley Mandadi. She was a 19 year old sophomore college student at Trinity University. Way, way back on October 29, 2017, she showed up at a hospital nearly naked, bruised and not breathing.
Her on again, off again boyfriend Mark Howerton told the doctors that she had taken some ecstasy while at a music festival, and she passed out after having consensual sex in his car. She ended up dying at the hospital. Cayley’s mother and stepfather didn’t buy Mark’s story, and they definitely thought something more sinister took place. So, they took actions to try and prove it.
The medical examiner said that Cayley died due to blunt force trauma to the head and face, and this case was ruled a homicide. From there, Mark Howerton was arrested with charges of murder. During the trial, the prosecution team tried to claim Mark beat Cayley. Meanwhile, Mark’s defense team claimed that Cayley injuries were due to there suscitation efforts while at the hospital or by a possible fall. This trial was eventually declared a mistrial because the jury could not reach a verdict. So, a new trial was planned for sometime in 2023.
Cayley’s mother Alison Steele and stepfather Lawrence Baitland launched their own investigation to get more evidence for the jury during this second trial. They even went as far as to purchase the same car they believe Cayley was murdered in. American reporter Peter Van Sant handled the reporting duties for this episode and case.
CBS’ official description for tonight’s new,January 20, 2024 episode 15 of 48 Hours season 37 reads like this,”Cayley Mandadi was a 19-year-old sophomore at Trinity University when she arrived at a hospital in Texas on Oct. 29, 2017. She was nearly naked, bruised and not breathing. Her sometime boyfriend Mark Howerton told doctors they’d taken ecstasy at a music festival and she passed out after consensual sex in his car. She died at the hospital.
Mandadi’s mother and stepfather believed something far more sinister had happened and set out to prove it. Peter Van Sant reports on the case in 48 HOURS: “For the Love of Cayley Mandadi.” An alternate description tells us, “WHEN A BELOVED COLLEGE STUDENT DIES WITH UNUSUAL BRUISING, HER PARENTS GO TO EXTREME LENGTHS TO PROVE HER DEATH WAS NO ACCIDENT.”
CBS’ press release confirmed that the next, new episode 15 of 48 Hours’ current season 37 is indeed scheduled to show up on your TV sets tonight, January 20, 2024, starting at approximately 9 pm central standard time. It will also be available for streaming on Paramount+.
