The Amazing Race April 17, 2024 Eliminated Derek & Shelisa (Recap)
Hey, “The Amazing Race” fans. Tonight, April 17, 2024, another new episode of The Amazing Race’s current season 36 did indeed hit the air, and another unlucky team did get eliminated at the end. Tonight’s new episode kicked off with the remaining teams learning they had to complete a Mega leg aka complete two detours and two roadblock challenges.
They kicked off this mega leg over in Córdoba, Argentina. Their first clue told them to go to the Plaza del Bicentenario. Once they got there, they were hit with their first set of detours: “Bicicleta” and “Boleadora.” They could choose to do either one of them.
In the “Bicicleta” detour, the teams had to use a stationary bicycle to crush and recycle plastic bottles to get their next clue. In the “Boleadora” detour, the teams had to throw a bola and wrap it around a moving target to get their next clue. They only got ten attempts at it. If they couldn’t get it in those 10 tries, they had to start the challenge all over.
Once the teams successfully completed one of these detours, they were directed to head to Circuito Lobo Race. When they got there, they were hit with their first Roadblock challenge. During it, one of the team members had to ride alongside a professional race car driver while he drove a course. They had to memorize the course and then put together a puzzle outlining the track to get their next clue.
After the teams successfully finished that roadblock challenge, they were told to go to Estadio Francisco Cabasés. Once they got there, one of the team members had to join a Bubble Soccer match and score a goal to get their next clue.
After the teams completed the Bubble Soccer match challenge, they had to go to Mirador del Coniferal. Once they got there, they got hit with another set of detours titled, “Who Did It” and “What’s Your Beef.”
In the “Who Did It” detour, the teams had to find a fingerprint match with tools to identify a suspect to get their next clue. In the “What’s Your Beef” detour, the teams had to identify 14 different cuts of beef to get their next clue.
After the teams successfully completed one of those detour challenges, they were told to go to the Plaza de San Martín, which was the pit stop for this leg of the race.
Juan & Shane arrived at the pit stop in first place and won $5,000 each for their troubles. Ricky & Cesar took second place. Rod & Leticia came in 3rd place. Amber & Vinny took the 4th spot. Angie & Danny came in 5th place. Yvonne & Melissa took 6th place. Sunny & Bizzy finished in the very important 7th spot to just narrowly avoid elimination. That means poor Derek & Shelisa arrived in last place, and they were eliminated.
