She got shot in her car by the side of a road. The investigators who worked this case eventually found her boyfriend bloody and disoriented, claiming he didn’t know what the hell happened. Correspondent Peter Van Sant handled the reporting duties for this episode and case.
CBS’ official description for this new episode 13 of 48 Hours season 37 reads like this, “On Oct. 31, 2020, in the small town of Hemphill, Texas, Darci Bass received devastating news: her daughter Livye Lewis had been shot in her car on the side of a road.
Nearby, investigators found Lewis’ ex-boyfriend Matthew Edgar bloodied and disoriented. From a hospital bed, Edgar insisted he had no recollection of what had happened. Captured in sheriff’s office bodycam footage, he appears confused, saying, “I have no clue why I’m here.”
