In this new episode, the 48 Hours team is going to take a deep look at a story about a South Carolina man named Davis McClendon. He was found dead by the road of his wrecked car.

The investigators who worked this case immediately suspected it was a hit and run accident. However, their investigation led them to a local businessman named Bud Ackerman via his oil trail that he left behind.

They noticed that his Ford pickup truck was leaking oil and that his front grille was broken. The investigators went on to find out that Davis McClendon was actually dating Ackerman’s soon-to-be ex-wife Meredith Haynite.

This made them start thinking that this could have been a crime fueled by some jealous rage. 48 Hours correspondent Anne-Marie Green handled the reporting duties for this episode and case.
