New 60 Minutes March 9 Episode To Feature Watchdog Agency Firings, Big Pharma & More

CBS is officially confirmed to air another new episode of 60 Minutes tonight, March 9, 2025, and it’s going to feature segments about the recent firings over at the Watchdog agency, which protects federal workers and whistleblowers.

There will also be a segment, talking about a huge, Purdue Pharma settlement that’s due to pay out up to a whopping $7.4 billion dollars, and more.

This episode is the 24th one for this current season 57. According to CBS’ official episode 24 press release information, this episode will feature the 60 Minutes team, delivering a total of three news segments.

The first segment is titled, “FIRING THE WATCHDOGS” CBS’ official description for it reads like this, “The chief of the watchdog agency that protects federal workers and whistleblowers, Hampton Dellinger, was one of the first to be fired by President Trump.

So were 18 inspectors general and the chief of the board that protects federal workers. What is happening to independent watchdogs and why are they being dismantled? Correspondent Scott Pelley sits down with Dellinger and others to find out. Maria Gavrilovic is the producer.”

The second segment is titled,”THE SETTLEMENT.” CBS’ description for it reads like this, “Five years after it declared bankruptcy, Purdue Pharma and its wealthy owners, members of the Sackler family, have agreed to pay up to $7.4 billion in a proposed settlement that would deliver funds to victims of the opioid crisis.

Correspondent Cecilia Vega investigates how this deal –potentially one of the largest opioid settlements ever –will affect the individuals and families who say Purdue’s opioids harmed them. Natalie Jimenez Peel is the producer.”

The 3rd and final segment for this new episode 24 is titled, “A METHOD TO HIS MADNESS.” CBS’ description for it reads like this, “With the NCAA basketball tournament, famously known as “March Madness,” tipping off this month, the University of Connecticut men’s team is aiming for a historic three-peat.

Correspondent Jon Wertheim provides an inside look at coach Dan Hurley’s preparations, his strategies for managing a changing roster and his pre-season rituals. Draggan Mihailovich is the producer.”

Again, CBS’ press release confirmed that the next, new episode 24 of 60 Minutes’ current season 57 is scheduled to hit the air tonight, March 9, 2025 in the 6 pm central standard time slot. It will also be available for streaming on Paramount+.
