CBS 60 Minutes September 27 New Episode Delayed, Preempted. Not Airing Tonight
According to CBS and TV Guide, CBS is not going to air a new episode of their hit news show, “60 Minutes” tonight, September 27, 2026, due to some other TV obligations that they have committed to fulfilling.
We are being told by some of our sources that CBS is scheduled to air another new episode of 60 Minutes next Sunday night, October 4, 2026,but we don’t have any details for it right now because CBS hasn’t put out an official press release for it yet. But, definitely be on the lookout for a new episode to pop next week until further notice.
As for tonight, we’re being told by both CBS and TV Guide that CBS will be airing the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards in the 6:30 pm central standard time slot, or after their LIVE coverage of an NFL football game. Whichever comes first. We’re not sure if the MTV Video Music Awards broadcast will be LIVE. They didn’t mention that. All we know is that they will be airing it.
It will feature performances from: GENER8ION, Gunna, Kacey Musgraves, LISA, Madonna, RAYE, Shaboozey, SIENNA SPIRO, SOMBR, Teddy Swims and Yung Lean and more. Some of the presenters are: Alex Warren, Belmont Cameli, Brandon Sklenar, Charli xcx, Chuck D, Ciara Miller, David Corenswet, Ella Bright, Emma Bunton, Isabel May, Jeff Probst, Orville Peck, Paris Hilton, Rachel Dratch, Teyana Taylor, Troye Sivan and Tyla.
They will be paying a special tribute to deceased music legends Dolly Parton and George Michael at some point and more. If any of you guys find the Music Video Music Awards to be appealing at all, you might still want to flip on CBS tonight to check it out. If you only want to see a new 60 Minutes episode, you will certainly want to make some alternate plans for tonight and check back next Sunday night.
Again, both CBS and TV Guide have confirmed that CBS is not airing a new episode of 60 Minutes tonight due to their special broadcast of the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards event. However, they are reportedly scheduled to air a new 60 Minutes episode next Sunday night, October 4, 2026. We’ll have more details on that at a later date.
