Cirque du Soleil Is Introducing A First Ever, New Show Type To Select Cities
According to SDnews , the very popular Cirque du Soleil tour is set to introduce a new, first-ever show in select cities throughout North America.
This new show will consist of ice skating. They’re calling it, “Crystal.” It’s actually already been introduced in the Tucson, Arizona area, but it’s about to make its rounds into more cities like San Diego, CA, Orlando,Florida, Portland,Oregon and more. They will also hit up some cities in Canada.
The new “Crystal by Cirque du Soleil” is described as exploring the creative and artistic attributes of a show performed on and above ice. It’s specifically created to take place in arena venues. It will combine outstanding skating, sliding, remarkable aesthetics and acrobatic feats that defy the imagination.
“Crystal” is currently scheduled to arrive in the San Diego, CA area with seven performances on March 21,2018 to March 25, 2018. The shows will take place in the Valley View Casino Center which is located at 3500 Sports Arena Blvd.
The preface of the Crystal show revolves around a female character named Crystal. She’s has gone out on an exhilarating quest to fulfill her destiny as she dives into a world of her own imagination. She soars through this surreal world at a very fast pace to become what she was always destined to be which is confident, freed and empowered.
The show involves synchronized skating, freestyle, figure, and extreme skating along with circus disciplines such as swinging trapeze, aerial straps and hand to hand. It’s reportedly an adrenaline-packed show for the whole family that pushes through boundaries and surpasses all expectations.
Shawn Sawyer who is a figure skater in the “Crystal” show expressed how happy he is for a show like this. He said, “After many years as an athlete and a professional ice skater, I wasn’t sure where my career would take me. A creation like Crystal means a lot to me since I get to be part of something new that had never been done before. I see it as a good transition between being an artist/athlete.”
Shawn also went on to say good things about the San Diego,CA area. He stated, “San Diego is a city that I always wanted to visit. I am excited to put on my skates and perform for our fans in San Diego. I look forward to enjoying some time off to wander and discover this city.”
“Crystal” is the 42nd original show that Cirque du Soleil has introduced since 1984. The showtimes for the San Diego shows are: Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at 7:30 pm, Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 7:30 pm, Friday, March 23, 2018 at 7:30 pm, Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 4:00 pm and 7:30 pm. Sunday, March 25, 2018 at 1:30 pm and 5 pm.
The dates for the Orlando, Florida shows are currently scheduled to land on Wednesday August 1, 2018 to Sunday, August 5, 2018. They will take place at the Amyway Center out there. Tickets for that event have already gone on sale as of yesterday, March 13, 2018 for exclusive Cirque Club members. The general presale tickets will go on sale on Friday, March 23, 2018 at approximately 10 am eastern standard time.
