Dancing With The Stars October 12, 2020 Eliminated Jesse Metcalfe & Sharna Burgess (Recap)
Hey, “Dancing With The Stars” fans. Tonight, October 12, 2020, another new episode of Dancing With The Stars season 29 did indeed air, and another unlucky couple was indeed sent packing at the end.
The judges: Derek Hough, Carrie Anne Inaba and Bruno Tonioli were all on hand ,once again, to deliver their critiques and scores. Tonight’s theme was 80’s dances. The stars danced to music from the 1980’s.
Justina Machado and Sasha Farber started off tonight’s performances with a Jazz number to the song, “Maniac” from Flashdance.
Afterwards, Derek said, “It was a great way to start to show. It was so much fun to watch.” Bruno said, “It was wet, wild and wonderful, and Sasha’s neckline gives me vertigo. It was deliciously 80s.”
Carrie Ann said, “It was incredible, and you and Sasha were incredibly in sync despite one little mistake.”
Carrie Ann gave Justina and Sasha a 8 score, Derek a 8 and Bruno a 8 for a total of 24 points out of a possible 30 points.
Jesse Metcalfe and Sharna Burgess hit the stage ,next, to perform a Tango routine. Afterwards, Bruno said, “You started very well, but you went wrong several times. The performance and the technique need to be at the same level, and the technique wasn’t there.”
Carrie Ann said, “The technique was problematic, but you had a more confident connection to the music this time. Now, you just need to connect more to Sharna.” Derek said, “The frame was a little closed off, and I want it opened up to the crowd.”
Carrie Ann gave Jesse and Sharna a 7 score, Derek a 6 and Bruno a 6 for a total of 19 points.
Next, Chrishell Stause and Gleb Savchenko hit the dance floor to do a Cha, Cha, Cha number. Afterwards, Carrie Ann said, “It was entertaining to watch, but there wasn’t enough cha,cha content.”
Derek said, “I loved the side-by-side moments, but you need to close your feet and ankles, and you tend to throw your arms instead of carefully placing your movements.”
Bruno said, “Only you two could turn a cha cha into Dirty Dancing, but you need to place your feet better to improve your hip action.”
Carrie Ann gave Chrishell and Gleb a 6 score, Derek a 6 and Bruno a 7 for a total of 19 points.
Jeannie Mai and Brandon Armstrong arrived ,next, to do a Jazz routine to the song, “Like A Virgin” by Madonna.
Afterwards, Derek said, “There’s a confidence in you that makes it fun to watch. It was a simple and clean routine.”
Bruno said, “It was Madonna gone PG, and in the best possible taste.” Carrie Ann said, “It was an amazing performance, and you are the most exciting performer in the whole competition even though you sometimes go overboard with your energy.”
Carrie Ann gave Jeannie and Brandon a 8 score, Derek a 8 and Bruno a 8 for a total of 24 points.
Monica Aldama and Val Chmerkovskiy hit the stage ,next, to deliver a Tango performance. Afterwards, Bruno said, “You were like a laser-guided missile with every step in place, but you need to watch out for your posture in hold.”
Carrie Ann said, “It was an incredible performance from a dynamic performer. I’m so proud of you.” Derek said, “Your close brush with elimination lit a fire under you, and this was the first Tango I saw ,this season, that really traveled across the floor.”
Carrie Ann gave Monica a 9 score, Derek a 9 and Bruno a 8 for a total of 26 points.
Next up, was AJ McLean and Cheryl Burke. They danced a Waltz number to the song, “Open Arms.” Afterwards, Carrie Ann said, “Your frame still crumbles sometimes, but I admired the elegants you brought to the routine.”
Derek said, “I appreciated your control on such a slow, challenging routine. However, I could see you trying a little too much.” Bruno said, “I admired the great motion, but you need to work on your underarm turns.”
Carrie Ann gave AJ and Cheryl a 8 score, Derek a 8 and Bruno a 8 for a total of 24 points.
Skai Jackson and Alan Bersten hit the dance floor ,next ,to deliver a Jazz routine to the song, “The Power Of Love” by Huey Lewis.
Afterwards, Derek said, “It was fun, and you light up in your side-by-sides, but when you’re in hold, your energy goes down a little.” Bruno said, “You have the style and the moves, and you survived the lifts. Watch the dismount!
Carrie Ann said, “You need to work on your dismounts, and you need to expand your movements because you’re so petite.”
Carrie Ann gave Skai and Alan a 8 score, Derek a 8 and Bruno a 8 for a total of 24 points.
Next, Vernon Davis and Peta Murgatroyd danced a Tango routine. Afterwards, Bruno said, “It started well, but you went wrong, and then your footwork became flat.” Carrie Ann said, “The quality of movement was good, but you need to go bigger when you’re out of hold.”
Derek said, “You thrive in softer dances. With the Tango, I wanted more attack, just like in the Paso.”
Carrie Ann gave Vernon and Peta a 7 score, Derek a 7 and Bruno a 7 for a total of 21 points.
After that, Kaitlyn Bristowe and Artem Chigvintsev hit the dance floor to serve up a Tango number, which featured a little bit of 80’s break dancing at the end.
Afterwards, Carrie Ann said, “You are the best in frame of anyone else who danced the Tango tonight.” Derek said, “It was a beautiful Tango with great musicality.” Bruno said, “It was an action-packed 80s blockbuster.”
Carrie Ann gave Kaitlyn and Artem a 9 score, Derek a 9 and Bruno a 9 for a total of 27 points.
Next, Nelly and Daniella Karagach hit up the stage to serve up a Samba dance to the song,”Rhythm of the Night” by El DeBarge.
Afterwards, Derek said, “This was your best dance of the season so far. It was a legit Samba with the choreographic content.” Bruno said, “You were so much lighter on your feet with good footwork and rhythm.” Carrie Ann said, “That made me so happy.”
Carrie Ann gave Nelly and Daniella a 8 score, Derek a 8 and Bruno a 8 for a total of 24 points.
Next up, was Johnny Weir and Britt Stewart. They did a Contemporary dance. Afterwards, Bruno said, “The routine connected, projected and emoted. You filled the room with the emotion.”
Carrie Ann said, “Turn around and take a bow. Consider that contemporary crushed. The artistry was incredible.” Derek said, “It was perfect with beautiful quality of movement.”
Carrie Ann gave Johnny and Britt a perfect 10 score, Derek a 10 and Bruno a 9 for a total of 29 points.
Nev Schulman and Jenna Johnson performed a Quickstep routine to close out the performances tonight.
Afterwards, Carrie Ann said, “You’re one of the most consistent dancers of the season, but your balance was a little off. You looked a little far from Jenna in hold, and your movements were a little smaller than usual.”
Derek said, “It was a great way to end tonight.” Bruno said, “You took to the quickstep like a duck to water, and you maintained the timing with the intricate footwork.”
Carrie Ann gave Nev and Jenna a 8 score, Derek a 9 and Bruno a 9 for a total of 26 points.
Next, host Tyra Banks revealed that all the couples were safe except for Vernon Davis & Peta Murgatroyd and Jesse Metcalfe & Sharna Burgess.
The judges got to save one of the couples, and they all unanimously decided to save Vernon and Peta. That means poor Jesse Metcalfe & Sharna Burgess were eliminated tonight. How do you guys feel about that? Let us know in the comments section.
