The Bachelorette August 2, 2021 Greg Grippo Quit And Stormed Off (Recap)

Hey, Bachelor Nation fans. Tonight, August 2, 2021, another new episode of The Bachelorette 2021 edition with headliner Katie Thurston did indeed air, and another guy totally stormed off during it! It was nuts!

Tonight’s episode kicked off with Katie going to see Blake for their hometown date. These dates all took place in New Mexico. So, they had to improvise. Blake did his best to show Katie what his hometown in Canada was like.

He took her to a bar because he used to bartend in Canada. He served her some drinks at one point. Then they played balloon darts. Each balloon they popped had questions that they answered. They road a simulated bull ride and kissed after they fell off of it. At one point, Blake told the private cams, “Our relationship is growing exponentially and not fading off.”

One of the scenes featured Greg being able to just sit there and watch Katie and Blake’s date from a balcony. So, that was kinda weird and mentally unhealthy since it just made him upset.

During the second half of Blake and Katie’s hometown date, Blake took Katie to visit his family Emily, Taylor and Cody. They greeted Katie with a nice, warm hug.

Blake’s Mother talked with Katie. She asked Katie, “Where are you at with Blake?” Katie said, “Neither of us have said we love each other, but we think we can get there.”

Blake talked with his sister. She talked to him about when he will ever be in love with Katie.

Blake’s mother told Blake of Katie, “I like her. If you love her, you need to man the F up and tell her.” Towards the end of this hometown date, Blake’s whole family played some street hockey with Katie.

After all of that, Blake kissed Katie goodbye. Blake told the private cams of their kiss goodbye, “I was afraid to use the word love in that moment because it’s a very important word. If things keep going the way they are, I can certainly see myself getting engaged to Katie.”

Next, it was revealed that Justin’s family couldn’t make it, but his two best friends came. Katie and Justin greeted each other with a giant hug and kiss to get their hometown date started. Justin showed Katie what it’s like in his hometown of Baltimore, MD. They road a horse chariot around. They seemed to have a great time. They kissed while on the chariot. Justin set up a crab lunch for Katie.

After lunch, Katie and Justin talked. Justin told Katie, “My parents couldn’t make it, but my two friends Herb and Tommy are here. I’ve known them for over 15 years. They’re like brothers to me.” Katie said, “I’m super bummed that your parents aren’t here, but I do look forward to meeting your friends.”

Katie told the private cams, “With Justin’s parents not here, I do wonder if Justin is ready for a proposal. It’s a bit of a struggle for me.”

During the second half of Justin and Katie’s hometown date, Justin took Katie to meet his two best friends Herb and Tommy. Herb talked with Katie. Herb asked Katie, “What has made Justin stand out to you?” Katie said, “He’s so much fun and he’s a great kisser.”

Herb asked Katie, “Has Justin said he’s in love with you yet?” Katie said, “No he hasn’t.” Herb said, “Have you told him you’re in love with him?” Katie said, “No, I’ve chosen not to do that while there’s more than one man here. I want to save that until the very end when there’s just one man.” Herb told Katie, “You’re really cool.”

Tommy talked with Katie. Tommy told Katie, “Justin is so himself around you. I’ve never seen him that way before. Can you can see yourself saying yes to Justin proposing?” Katie said, “I think we can get there, yes.”

Justin talked with Herb. Justin told Herb of Katie, “We haven’t told each other we love each other. I’m not going to force it, but I do need to let her know how I feel about her because I don’t want to have any regrets.”

To cap off their hometown date, Justin told Katie, “I know I’m falling in love with you.” Then, Katie smiled, and they kissed.

Next, Greg and Katie greeted each other with a big hug and kiss for their hometown date. He showed her what his hometown of New Jersey is like. They road a tandem bike around at one point. He took her to get something to eat. Katie road a simulated surf board. When she fell off it, they kissed. They also played some basketball.

At one point, they talked. Greg told Katie, “You’re incredible. My family will love you.” They talked about it raining in their hometowns. So, production gave them some simulated rain, and they kissed while getting rained on. Greg told the private cams, “I’m falling so hard for Katie. I can’t wait to show her to my family.”

During the second half of Greg and Katie’s hometown date, Greg took Katie to meet his family. Greg’s mother Sandy, older brother Joe and best friend Dave showed up. They greeted Katie with big hugs. Then, they watched video messages from some of Greg’s family that couldn’t make it out to New Mexico.

At one point, Joe talked with Katie. Katie told Joe, “I can really see myself marrying Greg.”

Greg’s mother Sandy talked with Katie. She told Katie, “I worry that Greg’s heart will get hurt.” Katie said, “I get it. At the end of this, everyone gets hurt accept one man. That’s a burden I have to carry, but Greg is here to stay. We’re a perfect match.”

Sandy told the private cams, “Katie seems sincere, kind and humble, but my biggest fear is seeing Greg getting crushed and hurt. That’s my biggest fear.”

Greg told Sandy, “I’m in love with Katie. I haven’t been this happy in the longest time.” Sandy said, “It’s good to see you like this.” Greg said, “I do see myself getting engaged to Katie at the end of this. I really do.”

Towards the end of Greg and Katie’s hometown date, Greg and Katie talked. Greg told Katie, “I haven’t been this happy in the longest time. I’m in love with you. You make me the happiest I’ve ever been. I haven’t been this vulnerable with anyone in my life.” Katie said, “Our connection is so strong. I believe in it. At the end, it’s going to be worth it. We’re almost there.”

Greg didn’t like Katie’s reaction to him telling her he loved her. So, he told her, “This is hard for me.” Katie said, “I know. I get it. I just need you to trust in our relationship.” Greg said, “I feel like you’re holding things back from me.”

From there, Katie and Greg got into a little bit of an argument because Greg told her, “I don’t see why you don’t know that it’s us by now,” and so on and so forth. Finally, Katie just gave Greg a kiss goodbye and said, “I’ll see you soon.”

Greg told the private cams, “I’m so sad because I spilled my heart out to Katie last night, and she had no reaction. Something’s not right. It’s clear to me that she’s not feeling the same way.”

Greg went and talked to Katie about how he was feeling. Katie told Greg, “You seem nervous and unhappy.” Greg told Katie, “When I expressed that I love you, I felt like I was talking to a stranger. You completely dismissed it in my eyes.”

Katie said, “I’m sorry that it came off that way. I haven’t told anyone that I love them yet. I want to save that for the very end.” Greg said, “There’s obviously a disconnect here. As much as it hurts me, I’ve reached my breaking point here. I hope you find something.”

Katie asked Greg, “Are you not wanting stay anymore? Are you done?” Greg said, “That’s exactly what I’m saying.” Katie said, “Now, I just feel so helpless. I don’t know what to say right now. I’m sorry that night went the way it did, but I don’t see how it changes everything.”

Greg said, “Because it wasn’t you anymore. Your whole demeanor shifted. I just wanted something real. All I was asking for was for you to just be real with me. I don’t think you really get where I’m at. I’m not just a number here. It makes me sick. I’m so confused.” Then, Greg stormed off!

Katie went after Greg, and caught up to him at a bench that he sat down at. Katie hugged Greg, and said, “I don’t know what to do after everything that’s happened. If you left, I told myself I was done. I’m losing you! I’m losing my mind here! This is all for nothing if you leave. I don’t know what else to say. It’s like you’re not even believing anything I say.”

Greg said, “I deserve more than what I’ve been given from your side. I’m not happy here anymore. I’m done here.” Then, Greg stormed off again! Katie said, “I’am done! I am done! I’m done! I want to go home.” Then, Katie stormed back to her room and cried.

Co-host Kaitlyn Bristowe went to talk with Katie. Katie told Kaitlyn, “How am I supposed to move forward with any of this?” Kaitlyn asked Katie, “What shifted for you and Greg’s relationship?” Katie said, “He feels like he really opened up, and he didn’t the response he wanted. There’s no way I can get him back.” Then, she cried.

Katie went on to say, “I’m just so blindsided right now. I feel so defeated. This process is all of a sudden blowing up in my face.” Kaitlyn asked Katie, “What do you want to do from here?” Katie said, “I feel so destroyed. I want someone to book my flight home.”

And that was tonight’s show, ladies and gentlemen. It will be continued in next week’s finale episode. I’m thinking this season was actually cut short because of what happened between Katie and Greg in this episode. These Bachelorette seasons usually feature about 13 episodes, but we’re only getting 10 for Katie’s season. Anyways, we’ll see what happens in the finale episode next week.

The next, new, finale episode of The Bachelorette 2021 edition with headliner Katie Thurston is scheduled to air next Monday night, August 9, 2021 at approximately 7 pm central standard time on ABC.
