New NCIS Season 20 To Deliver A Dark Storyline, Possible New Romance & More
Hey, “NCIS” fans. We hope you guys totally enjoyed how this latest season 19 played out. Now that season 19 is officially over an done with, we’ve recently gotten our first sneak peek at what the next, new season 20 might offer up from NCIS executive producer Steven D. Binder.
The folks over at TVinsider.com got to talk with him about the new season 20, and he had a few things to share.
The first thing he shared had to do with Wilmer Valderrama’s character agent Nicholas Torres. That’s right, guys. It turns out that we’re going to see agent Torres get quite dark in this brand new season 20. However, they’re going to do it in a way that doesn’t turn him into an absolute villain. In other words, there will be method to his madness.
Steven stated, “I think we’re gonna go pretty dark with Torres, but we try and do it in a way that doesn’t destroy what we love about the character. So, always in service to something greater. It’s not just pure darkness.”
Next, we learned a little about what will be going on with Diona Reasonover’s Kasie character in the upcoming season 20. It turns out that we’re going to possibly see her get a love interest at some point. Whatever the case, Steven definitely wants to do something fun with the Kasie character in season 20.
Steven stated, “We’re dabbling potentially with Kasie having a significant other. We’re gonna see where that goes. We used to do Abby-centric stories relatively frequently or at least with a rhythm. It’s been a while since we’ve done a Kasie story. I think we’re gonna have something fun for her coming up that may or may not involve her relationship.
We’ll see where the story takes us or where that character takes us, but I think season 20 is gonna be a season where everyone’s really gonna get a chance to shine, have their own episodes and have them be pretty powerful. And Kasie is certainly overdue. I can tell you that.”
Lastly, Steven served up a little something, something about David McCallum’s Ducky character for the new season 20. We’re probably going to see him get about the same amount of screentime. However, Steven wants to utilize the Ducky character in a more effective way in season 20. Steven explained, “I think it’ll be probably about the same amount of Ducky, possibly more.
I always say to David, “You are this magical pixie dust, wherever we put you, you’re just this magical being who elevates every scene he’s in with that David McCallum gravitas.” So, we would love to have more. We’ll have a little more head space. At a bare minimum, you’ll see Ducky the same amount and hopefully we’ll be able to, when we do see him, use him in a way that’s more effective, much like Mark Harmon.
The fans can probably tell when we put him in things, and he’s just another star on the show versus when we actually devote our energies to making a story more about him, and those are always fantastic. He’s never let us down in 20 years.”
