The Bachelorette September 5, 2022 Eliminated Johnny DePhillipo (Recap)

Hey, Bachelor Nation fans. Tonight, September 5, 2022, another brand new episode of The Bachelorette 2022 edition with headliners Rachel Recchia and Gabby Windey hit the air, and another guy was sent packing by the time it was over.

Tonight’s episode kicked off with Rachel and Gabby talking about their upcoming overnight dates and how Clayton did them wrong at this point during his season. They said they don’t want to handle things like he did. Rachel mentioned she was still bothered by the way Tino’s parents treated her during his hometown date.

In reference to Zach, Rachel said, “Every piece is there with Zach. He’s perfect, but I don’t think I’m there with him yet. Everything with him is perfect on paper.” In reference to Aven, Rachel said, “I feel like I’m falling in love with Aven, but I haven’t told him yet. I really want to tell him though.”

Gabby talked about Jason and said, “I’m definitely falling in love with him, but I don’t know how he feels about me.” She said some things about Johnny and Erich too, but we unfortunately missed that part because the dang signal went out.

Luckily, we got it back in time for the start of Gabby and Erich’s 1 on 1 date. Gabby greeted him with a big hug and kiss. Then, they went jumping into the water off a 3-level platform. When they got to the 3rd level, Gabby got scared. So, she kept hugging Erich for support.

After the jump, they talked. They talked about his sick dad. Erich said, “I hate being away from my dad, but it’s moments like this that make me realize I need to be here with you,” and they kissed. Gabby told the private cams, “The more time I spend with Eric, the more I see my future with him.”

During the second half of their date, Gabby told the private cams, “I need to see where Erich stands.” She told him, “You’re so patient with me, and I really appreciate that.” Erich told Gabby, “My family is obsessed with you. I’m so ridiculously attracted to you.”

Gabby talked about her difficult childhood. Erich said, “I appreciate how strong you are. I’m falling in love with you, and I don’t want to leave here without you.” Then, they kissed. Gabby said, “I’m falling in love with you. I really am.” Then, they kissed again.

They got a fantasy suite card and decided to go to the fantasy suite. Gabby told the private cams, “I can see myself with Erich forever. I feel like the future is going to be so, so good.” They kissed on the fantasy suite bed before the cams cut out. Then, we got footage of them waking up together in the morning. They had breakfast and talked.

Erich told Gabby, “I feel confused.” She said, “What do you mean?” Then, he mentioned that he was worried because she’s got other guys she’s dating. She told him, “Please just be patient with me.”

She gave him some reassuring words before sending him on his way with another, “I love you.” Erich told the private cams, “I’m just going to be patient, but it’s tough.” Gabby told the private cams, “I’m more than falling in love with Erich, but I’m waiting for the right moment to tell him.”

Next up, was Aven and Rachel’s 1 on 1 date footage. They greeted each other with a hug and kiss. Then, they got on a yacht, rubbed oil on each other, drank champagne and kissed. Rachel told the private cams, “I’m waiting to tell the guys I’m in love with them because I don’t want to use the word love carelessly like Clayton did.”

Aven told Rachel, “My mom and dad love you.” Rachel was so happy to hear that, and they kissed. During the second half of Rachel and Aven’s date, Rachel told the private cams, “I do think Aven could be the one.”

Rachel asked Aven, “Can you genuinely see yourself getting engaged in two weeks?” Aven said, “I can. I can definitely see a life with you outside of this. I’m 100 percent ready, and you’ve made that very easy for me. I also want to make sure you’re ready as well.”

Rachel said, “I am comfortable saying, I am falling in love with you. I truly mean it,” and they kissed. Aven told the private cams, “Rachel telling me she loves me means a lot to me.” They got a fantasy suite card, and they decided to go to the fantasy suite.

After their fantasy suite night, we got footage of them waking up together and having breakfast in bed. Rachel told Aven, “I’m glad we got to take our relationship to a new level.” Then, they did some more kissing.

At one point, host Jesse Palmer talked with Tino. Tino talked with Jesse about how his dad treated Rachel during hometowns and how she thinks he doesn’t like her. Tino also said he’s known for weeks how much he’s in love with Rachel. He told the private cams, “I’m worried that my family being so tough on Rachel could weigh on her decision.”

Then, Tino and Rachel finally went on their 1 on 1 date. She greeted him with a big hug and kiss. They went horseback riding and talked. Rachel told Tino she felt anxiety from hometowns. However, they did kiss some more. Then, they jumped into the water. Rachel told the private cams, “I really hope we can have a serious conversation about what happened with Tino’s parents. If we can’t, I don’t think we can move forward.”

During the second half of Rachel and Tino’s date, Rachel told the private cams, “I’m scared to move forward because of what happened at hometowns with Tino’s family.”

Rachel told Tino, “I just really feel like your parents didn’t like me, and it made me worry about whether or not you can move forward without their support. Your dad said, ‘I’m not going to disown Tino if he gets engaged. I’ll just have to accept it.” Tino said, “Wow, I didn’t know that.”

Tino brought up that Rachel’s parents were just as strict during Clayton’s season, and that it’s just how they are. He followed that up with, “I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t see a future with you. I love you, Rachel. I’m in love with you. I feel like it’s long overdue. My family will come around.”

Rachel said, “I love you, too!” Then, they kissed and ended up going to the fantasy suite. Rachel told the private cams, “Tino’s family better come around because I really do see Tino at the end.”

After all of that, it was Gabby’s turn again. She went on her 1 on 1 date with Johnny. They greeted each other with a huge hug and kiss. Then, they got on a boat, talked and kissed some more.

Gabby told Johnny, “I feel like I can be my most ridiculous self with you. I feel like everytime we’re together, I see a new side of you which is nice. I feel like your comfortable around me.” Johnny said, “For sure.” Gabby told the private cams, “Being with Johnny is so effortless and natural.”

Then, Gabby got down to the nitty gritty with Johnny, telling him, “I’m at a place where I’m ready to be engaged.” Johnny said, “That’s a hard thing to think about. It’s such a hard thing to decide. It’s just a question of if I’m ready. If I’m not, do I want to drag you through that.”

From there, Gabby got up for a second and told the private cams, “It seems to me like Johnny is not really ready. I’m feeling really frustrated. Having to ask Johnny about his feelings about me really hurts. I don’t want to go into an overnight date with unanswered questions.”

Johnny went on to tell Gabby, “I just don’t know if I can get to an engagement in the next week and give you 100 percent. And that’s just me being honest with you. I wish I didn’t have to tell you this.” Gabby said, “It’s ok. Maybe if this was a different time, things could’ve worked out.” Johnny said, “You’re absolutely great, and you deserve to get everything you want.”

Johnny told the private cams, “Gabby wants something that I don’t know if I can give her right now. Not in the next week, and it sucks.” Gabby and Johnny said their goodbyes to each other and that was that. She got back on the boat and left Johnny stranded with the production crew. Just kidding. I’m sure they had a ride waiting for Johnny as well.

Anyways, next, they showed footage of Jesse talking with Jason. Jesse asked Jason straight up, “Do you feel like you’re falling in love with Gabby?” Jason said, “I’m not quite there yet, but I’m hopeful that it will turn into something real after this. I’m taking things day by day. It’s hard for me to see getting to a point of an engagement in two weeks.”

After all of that, Gabby got an anonymous note saying,”I need to see you. I’ll be waiting at the bridge.” It turned out to be Erich who was waiting for her. Erich, once again, told Gabby he’s worried about the other relationships she has with the other guys. “I didn’t mean to put you on the spot. I just wanted to tell you how I feel. That’s all.”

At this point, Gabby got pretty upset because she thought they already had this conversation during their overnight date. Gabby told the private cams, “I feel so frustrated ,right now, and I feel like we’re rehashing the conversation. I don’t feel like Erich trusts the relationship we have. Maybe he’s not going to be my guy after all. I feel like he’s testing me, and that’s not something you do to someone you love.”

Gabby definitely let Erich know that she wasn’t feeling good about this situation. He apologized, but there was definitely some sour vibes floating around between these two as she walked off. And that was a wrap for this episode, but everything will continue in tomorrow night’s new episode 10 because this is back-to-back episodes week.
