Survivor March 8, 2023 Voted Off Helen Li In A Major Blinside (Recap)
Hey, “Survivor” fans. Tonight, March 8, 2023, another new episode of Survivor’s current season 44 did indeed hit the air, and we saw another unlucky contestant get voted off with some major blindside action.
Tonight’ episode kicked off with Ratu tribe’s Matthew M telling the private cams he was very pleased with how the last tribal council meeting played out that sent Maddy Pomilla home. He said,”I wanted Brandon to stay and Maddy to go.” Kane told the private cams he wasn’t happy about the way things played out because he was on the wrong side of the vote by voting for Brandon to go. He hopes to try and repair things with him. Brandon told the private cams, “I don’t trust Kane at all. I’m pretty upset about him voting against me.”
Over at the Soka tribe camp, Matt B told the private cams, “I really like Frannie. I’ve found a good connection with her. I would 100 percent ask her out on a date.” Frannie told the private cams, “I love Matt. He’s great to have around, but I’m worried about being seen as a pair with him.”
The Tika tribe had a locked bird cage with a bag inside of it, and they talked about trying to find the key for it. At Ratu, Kane went looking for a new idol. The others recognized it, so they went looking for one as well. Over at Sora, Danny went looking for an advantage or an idol. He eventually found the key to a locked bird cage with a bag inside of it at their camp. Caroline found the key to the locked bird cage over at the Tika camp.
At Sora, Danny opened the bird cage in secret and got a hidden immunity idol and a silver coin. The silver coin had no power though. He put the bag back in the cage so no one would notice the cage had been opened. At Tika, Carolyn opened the bird cage in secret to get the hidden immunity idol. She put the bag back in the cage to make it look like it wasn’t opened, but she didn’t do a very good job because she put the bag back with it still untied.
The other Tika tribemebers noticed the bag had been tampered with and knew someone got the key. Carson told the private cams, from his studying of body language that it was probably Carolyn, but he was not 100 percent sure.
Next, host Jeff Probst showed up with the new immunity challenge. In this one, the tribes had to race through an obstacle course to get sand bags. Then, they had to untie knots to raise a latter up and use it to get to the top of a platform. Once, they got on top of the platform, they raced to a snake maze.
From there, one person from each tribe had to maneuver a ball to the top of the snake maze and get it to go into a hole for the win. Matthew M won first place for the Ratu tribe. Josh got second place for the Soka tribe. So, the Ratu and Soka tribes both won immunity. The Tika tribe lost and had to figure out which person they were sending home.
This immunity challenge also had a reward attached to it. It was fishing gear. The Ratu tribe got the bigger fishing gear set for finishing in first place, and the Soka tribe got a smaller fishing gear set for their second place finish. Meanwhile, the poor Tika tribe got their flint taken away.
Back at the Tika camp, Helen told the private cams that Carolyn needs to go. So, she campaigned to Sarah and Carson to get rid of Carolyn. They both appeared to agree. Helen also campaigned to Yamil aka Yam Yam to get Carolyn out. He pretended to agree to it, but he told the private cams, “I really want to get rid of Helen because she’s super smart and intelligent.”
So, we saw Yam Yam run back and plot against Helen with Carolyn. Later, they pulled Carson into the mix. Carson ended up telling Carolyn,”I really want to work with you.” Carolyn told Yam Yam that she was having a hard time believing Carson because he has been so tight with Helen and Sarah. Meanwhile, Carson was seen telling the private cams that he’s actually playing both sides at the moment.
At the Tika tribal council meeting, they just did some general game talk before casting their votes. Then, it was revealed that Carolyn received just 1 vote, and Carolyn got hit with a whopping 3 votes. So, with the 3 votes, Helen was indeed voted off the island, and it was a pretty hard blindside because she definitely wasn’t expecting it. She thought everyone was onboard to get rid of Carolyn. Also, Carson totally flipped on Helen.
Helen made a graceful exit, telling everyone, “Good luck” on the way out. She told the private cams, “I’ve always dreamed of playing Survivor. To be the 3rd one voted out is not how I wanted this to end. It has me questioning every connection I made. It’s a game, so respect the move. They did a great job.” How do you guys feel about Helen Li getting voted off Survivor season 44 in tonight’s episode? Let us know in the comments section.
