Hey, “Law & Order: Organized Crime” fans. We hope that tonight’s episode 22 was very satisfying for you guys, especially since it was indeed the very last one for this current season 3 of Law & Order: OC. That’s right, guys. Tonight’s episode 22 was the finale episode to wrap up season 3. That means it will be a long wait before you get to see another new episode, especially with this current writers strike threatening to push back production start dates by months.
Anyways, here’s the good news we have for you. We can officially tell you that NBC did indeed renew Law & Order: OC for a brand new season 4, and they did it early according to the folks over at TVLine.com. Yeah, apparently, the season 4 renewal happened back in April 2023. During that time, NBC also renewed the other Law & Order shows: Law & Order and Law & Order: SVU for brand new seasons.
So, they renewed the entire suite, which was created by Dick Wolf. So, he had some wonderful things to say about it stating, “I’m pleased to continue my four-decade relationship with Universal Television and NBC. All six shows being picked up again is the ultimate accolade to our incredible casts, producers and writers. I’d also like to thank our loyal fans who have kept our NBC shows on the air for what will be a cumulative 84 seasons.”
According to the LIVE Nielsen ratings, Law & Order: OC averaged 3.419 million LIVE viewers per episode, and a 0.44 ratings score for the 18-49 year old demographics. The most recent episode 21, which aired last Thursday night, May 11, 2023, managed to draw in 3.484 million LIVE viewers, and a 0.36 ratings score.
The most-viewed episode was the premiere episode 1 with 4.966 million LIVE viewers. The least-viewed episode was episode 17 with 2.878 million LIVE viewers. The highest-rated episode was the premiere episode 1 with a 0.62 ratings score. The lowest-rated episode was episode 19 with a 0.31 ratings score.
If you include the numbers from the streaming platforms, the average episode viewership numbers jump to 5.5 million, and the average ratings score jumps to a 0.80 ratings score. NBC thought those were solid enough numbers to renew it. So, that is terrific news.
