As we previously reported, 60 Minutes is currently in the off season. So, it’s rerun time. Actually, I should say these segments are repeats that are crammed into these episodes. There’s a total of two episodes airing tonight.
CBS gave us an official press release for the repeat segments they’re running tonight. In the first episode, 60 Minutes is going to re-air the segment titled, “FAKE ELECTORS.” CBS’ official description for it reads like this, “In the aftermath of President Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 presidential election, Republicans in seven states where he won, including Wisconsin, banded together and cast fake electoral votes for Donald Trump.
Correspondent Anderson Cooper reports on Wisconsin’s fake presidential electors and interviews Andrew Hitt, an attorney and former GOP state chair, who claims he and his fellow fake electors were tricked into signing the documents. Special counsel Jack Smith alleges the fake votes were part of a plan, orchestrated by Donald Trump and conspirators, to try to overturn the election.”
The second repeat segment is titled, “A PRISONER OF IRAN.” CBS’ description for it reads like this, “Margaret Brennan conducts the first interview with one of the five American prisoners freed from Iran last fall. With more than 120 hostages, including five Americans, still unaccounted for in Gaza, Emad Shargi’s harrowing story is a stark illustration of the difficulties involved in bringing citizens home.”
The 3rd and last repeat segment for the first episode is titled, “RICH PAUL” CBS’ description for it reads like this, “Bill Whitaker profiled mega sports agent Rich Paul as he released his new memoir. The founder and CEO of Klutch Sports Group represents NBA sensations like LeBron James and Draymond Green and negotiated almost $900 million in deals this past summer alone.
Whitaker traces Paul’s unlikely journey from the east side of Cleveland to his glittering life today and scores an invite to the Klutch All-Star Game party, one of the hottest tickets in the NBA.”
In the second episode, 60 Minutes is going to re-air the segment titled, “AN ISLAND OFF AN ISLAND.” CBS’ description for it reads like this, “Jon Wertheim ventures to a 90-square-mile jewel of land off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada. Fogo Island’s population was decimated when its one and only industry, cod fishing, went into steep decline. Then, an eighth-generation Fogo Islander has returned home with deep pockets and a plan to bring the place and its people back.”
The second repeat segment is titled, “CALIGULA’S GARDENS.” CBS’ description for it reads like this, “The gardens of the Roman emperor Caligula have been discovered and excavated, and some of the most remarkable finds are now on display. This comes at a time when scholars have been taking a new look at Caligula and whether he was as cruel and depraved as he’s been made out to be. Anderson Cooper reports from Rome.”
The 3rd and final repeat segment for this second episode is titled, “RETURN TO GORONGOSA.” CBS’ description for it reads like this, “Gorongosa was once a crown jewel of African national parks, but its wildlife was destroyed by three decades of war. Scott Pelley shows us how the park in Mozambique and its people have rebounded with the help of Greg Carr, a former tech entrepreneur from Idaho.”
