New House Of The Dragon Season 3 Is Happening. HBO Renewed It Early
Hey, “House Of The Dragon” fans. We hope you guys totally enjoyed tonight’s 8th installment of House Of The Dragon’s current season 2, especially since it was indeed the final episode of the season. That means you guys will not get a new episode for quite some time.
The good news is that you will get a new episode at some point in the future because the HBO/MAX people did decide to renew the show for a brand new season 3. In fact, they decided to renew it pretty early. The renewal press release was sent out back on June 13, 2024. That was just before season 2 even debuted. So, HBO was quite confident in the show.
During the renewal announcement, the executive vice president of HBO programming Francesca Orsi had wonderful things to say about the House Of The Dragon series stating, “George, Ryan, and the rest of our incredible executive producers, cast, and crew, have reached new heights with the phenomenal second season of HOUSE OF THE DRAGON.
We are in awe of the dragon-sized effort the entire team has put into the creation of a spectacular season two, with a scope and scale that is only rivaled by its heart. We could not be more thrilled to continue the story of House Targaryen and watch this team burn bright again for season three.”
Currently, we don’t have an official release date for the new season 3, but we’re hearing that it won’t be until around the middle of 2026. Yeah, production for a show like this can take a while, and we’re hearing that production won’t even start up until sometime in 2025. So, yeah. It’s going to be a while. Definitely don’t hold your breath, waiting for season 3 to arrive.
According to the LIVE Nielsen ratings, House Of The Dragon season 2 averaged 1.254 million LIVE viewers per episode, and a 0.33 ratings score for the 18-49 year old demographics. The most recent episode 7, which aired last Sunday night, July 28, 2024, managed to draw in 1.220 million LIVE viewers, and a 0.27 ratings score.
The most-viewed episode was the premiere episode 1 with 1.325 million LIVE viewers. The least-viewed episode was episode 3 with 1.162 million LIVE viewers. The highest-rated episode was the premiere episode 1 with a 0.44 ratings score. The lowest-rated episodes were episodes 3 and 7. They both tied for last place with a 0.27 ratings score.
So, that is definitely excellent viewership for LIVE ratings for a cable show. We’ve heard with streaming numbers included, the viewership is at least triple those numbers.
