Buffy The Vampire Slayer New Hulu Reboot Is Officially Canceled
According to a new report from People.com and Sarah Michelle Gellar herself, Hulu has officially canceled their plans to do a rebooted version of the very popular late 90s and early 2000s show, “Buffy The Vampire Slayer.”
Apparently, Sarah Michelle Gellar who played the original Buffy role in the TV series version, hit up her official Instagram account today, March 14, 2026, to break the sad news stating, “So, I am really sad to have to share this, but I wanted you all to hear it from me. Unfortunately, Hulu has decided not to move forward with Buffy: New Sunnydale.
I never thought I would find myself back in Buffy’s stylish yet affordable boots, and thanks to Chloé, I was reminded how much I love her, and how much she means not only to me, but to all of you. And this doesn’t change any of that. And I promise, if the apocalypse actually comes, you could still beep me”
The rebooted series was going to focus on a new slayer, and Sarah was going to appear as a recurring character. She was also doing some executive producing for the show.
