Law & Order SVU New Season 28 Is Happening. NBC Renewed It

Tonight, May 14, 2026, NBC is airing the 21st episode of Law & Order: SVU’s current season 27, and it is the finale episode. So, we did search out whether or not NBC is renewing it for a new season 28, and it turns out that they are indeed renewing it.

So, you guys can expect to see Law & Order: SVU return with another new set of episodes during the 2026/2027 season. According to the folks over at Deadline.com , and their sources, the new season 28 renewal announcement did come very early, way back when they dropped the season 27 renewal announcement last year. So, NBC was quite confident in the show.

We’re being told that Law & Order: SVU is currently NBC’s #1 drama among adults in the 18-49 demo in multi-platform viewing. They’ve also been able to keep the show cheap enough for NBC to make a profit.

According to the LIVE Nielsen ratings, Law & Order: SVU season 27 averaged 3.646 million LIVE viewers per episode, and a 0.29 ratings score for the 18-49 year old demographics.

The most-viewed episode was episode 11 with 4.040 million LIVE viewers. The least-viewed episode was episode 3 with 3.058 million LIVE viewers.

The highest-rated episode was episode 12 with a 0.35 ratings score. The lowest-rated episode was episode 3 with a 0.21 ratings score.
